every day's a new dumb adventure

Goodnight Penguin

This is Pengy (pronounced Pen-Ghee), and each day for the last month or so he has greeted us at the door. Sadly though, it is time to say goodbye, at least until next year. Pengy is off to take watch in the garage until the next holiday season comes along.

How'd we meet? A few years ago, we ran into each other at Target. I wanted to bring him home, but couldn't justify the price. The next day -- it happened to be Christmas -- I told randall we should've gotten him. So randall said well tomorrow he should be on sale, so let's wake up early tomorrow and rescue him. He's been with us ever since. And he was worth every 75% off penny. and then some.

In other news, lydia wants to know our lists of places we spent at least one night in 2008. Here are mine. What are yours?

San Francisco, CA
Hollywood, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Snowmass Village, CO
Mather, CA
West Sacramento, CA
San Jose, Costa Rica
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Arenal, Costa Rica
Moroleon, Mexico
Morelia, Mexico

Ah I love Pengy. I was obsessed with snowmen for many years. Probably because I live in SoCal and we don't actually get snow or really any weather that requires coats. This year has been much more wintery Smiling

I have travelled this year less than any year in the last 8. Mostly due to me giving birth 1/9/08 and having a newborn. So my list is short:
Seal Beach, CA
Newport Beach, CA
Las Vegas, NV

I posted mine at Lydia's interblog, but here is the list:

Chicago, IL
Bloomingdale, MI
San Francisco, CA
San Ignacio, Belize
Mougins, France
New York, NY
San Diego, CA
Los Angeles, CA

I didn't count Hollywood as a separate thing. Should I have? I SO CONFUSED! I also didn't count Bullet Tree Falls, Belize, as separate because it's, like, three miles from San Ignacio. See also: Benque Viejo, Belize.

mine was two separate trips (hollywood and la, different parts of the area too), so i counted them different. i say you can count the others if you want, but it does seem a little cheaty.

Ya, my Hollywood was a separate trip — well, sames as yours. Then I stayed in LA separately. That counts. We will leave Belize separate. I keep feeling like I'm leaving something out.

Ladies, if you went to somewhere in LA and then on a different trip went to Hollywood, those both totally count. I also think if you went down to LA and then spent a night in Orange County that might count as well. I would think that on my trip to Ireland last year that I would count my three visits to different Counties of Ireland over a 10 day trip.

Sorry, should have clarified (but didn't need to for myself because I'm not as travelous as you): an asterisk goes next to cities in which you have spent more than one non-consecutive night. And I think your three mile Bullet Tree difference counts, Annie!
