I don't normally take the bus. I take the bart and the muni, but never the bus. Especially not the express. In other words, I was pretty much doomed before I began.
This evening I hustled out of the office to catch the bus without really paying attention. I knew I needed the express, I just didn't remember that there was more than one type of express at that stop. So when I got on and realized that the next stop was about 20 blocks past my intended destination, I muttered shit and hung out for the ride. Not like I had a choice.
When it finally stopped I hopped on the regular nonexpress bus going back the other way. A bunch of asian ladies with their signature pink bags joned me. We exchanged smiles and nods. I think they could tell that I'll be joining their pinkbag club sooner than later.

Oh, that's really sweet! I always hope to have that kind of exchange with older Mexican ladies, but I feel like I look a little ambiguously ethnic for them to identify with me.
