life coach gets crabs

tonight a gang of us went to PPQ to celebrate life choices by eating a bunch of crabs. julie is leaving the sugar gang soon and wanted me to remember that i should keep hanging out with her because she has excellent food taste. duh, like my waistline could forget.

ps. the phone ate my original post and won't send pics, so all you get is the blurry group photo that was hastily taken because well hello, there were lots of crabs to eat.

pps. i think the eating of photos and posts might have something to do with the fact that my phone has almost 10k photos on it. just maybe.

Put a bird on it (happy Halloween!)

With everything that's been going on, Halloween sort of snuck up on me. I didn't have time to get a costume, so I followed julie's advice and just put a bird on it. No one really got it, but it's cool (if you wanna know check out this site). There were loads of good costumes at work though. Lots of tasty treats too.

Happy Halloween all!

Chalowey beasts

This evening Randall and I headed to beast and hare to grab dinner with amy. She was in town for work and wanted to grab a bite of delicious. We weren't sure we'd be able to meet up, but it all worked out. It was good to see her. Mainly because I like her a lot and she's and old and good pal, but also because I'm thinking too much and need to spend time with those I love. I mean you never know, there could be some crazy earthquake or something to ruin everything. Speaking of which I didn't feel either of the quakes today.

Ps. The food at beast and hare was actually really great. The main downfall was that our 8:15 reservations didn't actually happen until 8:40. They lose an entire star for that.

Pps. Today's title alludes to how Randall pronounced chloe. Obviously.

Hats off to you

I was going to write a post about my new fun hat and how summer it feels and how sad but true it is that summer begins in sf after labor day, but folks I'm defeated and i don't even know how to direct my frustration.

A little birdie told me

I couldn't believe I slept through the lei family morning routine, but somehow I did. I woke up to find Lin shuyuan and Jin huh (pinyin totally butchered there I'm sure) eating breakfast. We had a sushi-style breakfast wrap (very similar to what my mom makes) and then we chatted about things to do in the area. Neither of us knew where to go, but thanks to the power of the Internet we learned that locust grove (Samuel morse as in morse code's old summer home) was right down the street.

The property itself was huge and we only explored a teeny portion. That's about all you can do with a 3year old, but still we conquered a nice chunk. Afterwards we headed to price chopper where we chopped up some prices and shuyuan bought enough fruit for a BBQ. Only it's for us and I'm leaving tomorrow morning. I thought it was laughable but then I remembered we are Taiwanese and eating, especially fruit, is what we do best.

Next we came home for lunch. Shuyuan partook in the family tradition of cooking too much while I partook in eating too much. I also helped put together some puzzles and I think it's a fact, three year olds and I get along great.

Later chi huan came home and the boys played outside. Chi huan had a meltdown but it was Jin hue's meltdown that was the best. He was upset that he was upset and crying in front of me because it made them look bad. That's right, a 3 year old was worried about losing face.

Once the meltdowns ended we went for a drive and ended up at this puzzle perfect pond in fishkill (worst town name ever). I got some crazy news while there and the whole thing seemed like a surreal dream. It put a damper on the rest of the night, but I tried not to think about it. Boo though. Boos all around.

Ps. Randall told me that a bird flew into our house today. I think that means it's time to come on home.

Pps. Last night we 3way skyped with my aunt and morm and it was amazing.

The stowaway

Although we're fortunate enough to have a garage at our place (seriously rare treat for the city), it's not exactly accommodating. It's bizarrely narrow (you have to exit from the passenger door) and not really meant for modern cars. With the new countryman (still fun if you're wondering), we've been running into the problem where if you open the trunk/hatchback and just let it go, it will hit this weird handle on the garage door. So far no scratches, but that's mostly luck and not our ability to remember to stop the door before it hits.

To avoid this situation, we figured we'd head to cliffs for a piece of foam insulation. After our purchase was made, we walked around and ran some other errands. Randall didn't get a bag and thought he'd just hold our new prize, but after a block he decided that my hood made a good backpack instead. Seriously I had a big square sponge in my hood all day. From randall's laughter, you'd think it was the most hysterical thing he'd ever seen.

Oh and does it work? Dunno, our laziness stopped us from getting to that point.

One big woop! for karen's bday

There are many reasons why I love my pal karen. In fact in honor of the "name 10" game we were playing tonight, here are 10 reasons why.

1 - she is super creative
2 - she has an amazing wit
3 - she's practical and punctual (the very rarest of good traits)
4 - she knows how to make a mean cake mosaic
5 - she likes good music
6 - her guilty pleasure music is the same as mine (we have tickets for u2 even)
7 - she gave me her secret veggie chili recipe
8 - she is super down to earth
9 - she has a great laugh
10 - she has good taste in dogs and men

But every December 21 there's another reason why I love Karen. Despite being a year below me in college, she's older than me (by just a few months - I didn't go to kindergarten). And this makes me feel young. So thanks for having a birthday Karen! I'll be right there in your old lady club soon!

Seriously though, all joking aside, Karen is awesome. Randall even busted out the big woop! in her honor. Those of you who know the woop! know that that's sort of a big deal these days.

Happy birthday Karen! Here's to many more!

Ps. Second photo is shin doublefisting the beers. He knows how to celebrate.
