God Save the Queen's Spa

Today was a holiday, and so Burger and I decided to head over to Shenzhen, China for some ridiculous shopping spree and spaday fun.

We started off taking the subway there (I love the concept of taking the subway train to another country) and then dealing with customs and immigration. (there's literally only a river separating china from HK). Once we were cleared, we headed to the Lo Wu shopping center. We were there a bit early and so we ended up going to get out hairdid (sorry Laura I cheated on you). I wanted a trim but told him he could add shape, the length is fine, but so much for my growing it out straight plan.

Afterwards, the shops were open and so we headed to dragon and ice (stall 4283) where we may have bought some not quite legit products. I'd show you, but then you won't believe me later when I try to pass them off as real. If you ever go to Shenzhen, make sure you hit up that stall and say hi hi to Kyle. Here he's showing off the latest in mulberry fashion.

When we spent more money than we should've, and ate some amazing food, we tried to go Queen's spa. Burger had been there before and wanted me to experience it. Unfortunately we forgot to bring the address along with us and were lost. Luckily I got to use my busted Chinese and sorted it all out. We arrived, hosed down and had an amazing spa time. Seriously, it's awesome, you sit in a giant plush recliner and order spa treatments off a menu. Let's just say my feet have never been softer and my nails are "hen coo" (as the gal told me). Super blizzard out.

I don't think I've had such a girly day.

I am my morm's daughter

Like a lot of gals my age, I'm coming to terms with the fact that when my reflection hits the light a certain way, or my inflection has a specific tone, I am indeed my mother's child. This doesn't just start and stop at the surface level either, it's something deeper. In many ways morm and I are the same. We're both egotistical hams, talk too much, love eating, are rebellious, and apparently are quite fond of accessorized muumuus (she rocks the blazer, I rock them with a belt). And yet we are quite different (which is good, the world can't handle two morms and I don't think I want her fierceness). I see both the good and bad of becoming morm and just hope I'm smart enough to learn from her life lessons. And while we have our ups and maybe more than our share of downs, I also hope to be at least half as awesome as she is (or at least a quarter as awesome as she says she is).

Speaking of awesome, tonight we hung out with aunt beefyi, and Jamers and sena. Morm lectured jamers, and we made some failed rice dumplings. No really, they were kind of bad and might be one of the first bad things I've ever eaten at morm's house. the meat that was supposed to go in them though, now that was delicious. I do hope I at least have her food skills.

Ps. She would like for you to take a moment to admire just how peautiful her yard is.

Laura's magic, Before and after

I was past due for a haircut, and this afternoon I remedied the situation. It's funny, I'm actually growing it out, but needed to trim the scraggles off as it's been looking rather beastly. Plus, the bangs had grown way out monster-style and I never really feel like myself when the bangs are growing out. But now thanks to laura's genius I'm me again. Now if only I can make it look this sleek and shiny on my own.

And if new hair wasn't good enough, for dinner I nom'd me some ike's sandwiches. It was tasty, but something is different, the bread just didn't hold up. Ike's is your new fast oven not as good as your old slow one?

Pretend monster

This one is for Erin who is celebrating ladygagamas (like Christmas but for lady gaga fans). We hung out a bunch today (lunch, coffee, and a sweet ride home) and Erin tried to school me on lady gaga. I didn't really work, but i was inspired to play makeup artist. For the record, I don't have much of an opinion on gaga. I think her outfits and makeup are fun, but her music doesn't do anything for me. But then, did you expect it to? You know I'm too snobby for pop music.
