On girls and boys

I'm not allowed (nor would I want) to share identifying info about the kids i hang out with on Thursdays. (You know, other than the fact that they're kind of awesome.) But this particular time around I have to share with you all how baffled I am. There is one kid im working with (let's just say their name is Pat) and in all honesty I can't tell you if it's a tomboyish girl or a beautiful boy and it's sort of driving me in insane. It doesn't really matter, the kid is rad either way. It's just that my brain is so curious. And because I don't know, nor do i want to be the cause of any issues, for the last four weeks I have dropped all pronouns completely. Friends, this is actually really hard to do. No his her he she. You try it. And after today I'm 99% sure I know the answer, but it's that nagging 1% uncertainty that looms. I know I'm never going to find out, and my curiosity will go unanswered, and that my pals is what kills me.

What did you do with your extra hour?

Me, I rearranged the furniture and found a new home for the matty mcf
painting. The room feels a lot bigger now, but we ordered a couch last
week that I think is too big for the space, so I suppose I should
enjoy it while I can. And yes, those are cat ears I'm wearing. Those
are the kinds of things you find when cleaning my house.

the big bang theory

today was a day of chaos and excitement. it started off pretty normal (well actually better than normal the weather was amazing and butterflies were twirling about), but there was a safety team meeting at work. our building has an annual refresher course (2 hour burn time for fire doors, don't forget to call the building after you dial 911 in a medical emergency so they can hold the elevator, that sort of thing), and it's taught by an awesome retired police dude.

almost immediately following our training, a few loud popping noises were heard. and by loud i mean i thought there was a gunman somewhere. turns out a car caught on fire on the street below our building. our floor started to panic, but our safety team calmed them down.

this pretty much ate my whole morning, and then later it was too hot to think. actually i take that back, it wasn't that it was too hot, it was that the air was stale and stagnant. luckily it went by quickly and the next thing i knew it was time to go visit laura. my hair has been out of control, and so i asked her to do her magic. it's not my favorite haircut, but laura and i have a plan and we need a few more months to get to the right length. so snip snip clean it up.

and now for the excitement you've all been waiting for. the car fire that caused a crazy 15th floor panic.

ps. thanks to jeff for the title. it's even better now than when he suggested it the first time because big bang, get it, that car blew up!

Monday Me-day

My amount of PTO is creeping up to the max again, and I've been so
oddly busy lately that my house has spun out of control. To fix both
of these problems I took today off to hang out with myself and my
house. It wasn't exactly a fun day, but it was a needed maintenance
day. Laundry was done, dishes put away, eyebrows groomed, closet
cleaned out (including a whole box for donating), giant stack of mail
dealt with, bills paid, hair washed, and dinner made. Ridiculosly
domestic but it needed to be done. Especially that closet. Here's the
after, but be sure to check the before. And yes the before actually
has a giant stack of clothes on a table. Thankfully it's all clear now.

Ps. this cleaning spree may or may not have been prompted by watching
an episode of hoarders. Seriously whenever I see that show, I
immediately feel the need to throw away stuff and clean something. I
guess that's a good thing?
