Let's eat crab you guys

I spent the afternoon cleaning out my house and sorting a bunch of stuff for donation. There were a few things I had to give to samshrew and chris and I decided I wanted them out of the house today. So Randall and I packed up the car (no really we packed it full of stuff for them) and headed to millbrae. But first we took a quick detour in colma where we took a quick nap at sleep train. Okay we didn't really nap, but we tried out mattresses until we found one we liked. We were going to replace ours last year, but never made a decision. This time we got decisive and can't wait for the new delivery.

Once we made our selection we popped into target (next door) and wasted money on things we didn't need. Then with an even fuller car, we headed to samshrew & chris's. When we got there we helped finish a plate of BBQ leftovers (pig family trough style on the living room table) but it wasn't really enough for dinner, so we decided to grab some crab downtown. They knew we were a mess so they even gave us bibs and plastic gloves. The bibs I'd seen before, but the gloves were a nice touch.

Afterwards we went back to their house and hung for a bit. That sushi dog was particularly loverly and nice today. So bonus pictures for that.

The kids host their first grown up BBQ party

This afternoon Randall and I headed to millbrae for a BBQ at sushi's house where Sam and chris were kind enough to provide a feast. There were a bunch of folks there and the crowd was divided between the sunny, but windy, backyard and the mutiple old school game platform equipped nerd dungeon. I parked myself near the snacks where I made friends with all the dogs. Sushi was, as always, territorial, but somehow I managed to make friends with scooby. As you can see, he liked me. He might have just wanted to lick the hamburger off my face, but you get the idea.

Afterwards we all fell asleep on the couches thanks to our full bellies, or maybe it was the copious amounts of drinkage. You know, it's hard to tell. Job well done kids! Job well done!

goats, and dogs, and jonsis, oh my!

today was one of those amazing san francisco days; there was lots to do, lots to see, and the weather was just downright perfect. although i got a late start (i slept in until 10:30 or so), there was still enough time to do all sorts. first up was the ferry building for the goat festival. it wasn't really a "festival" per se (there wasn't really a lot there to make it more than just a wee celebration), but we did get to snorgle some 7-day old goats, so it wasn't a total bust. it's funny, i used to think goats were creepy looking, but this little guy was so snorgly, he just moseyed on over and wanted to make pals. it probably had something to do with the fact that i just chowed down a 4505 meats chicken sausage and had some evidence on my hands, but i'm going to tell myself it's because he just wanted to snorgle.

afterwards randall and i muni'd on over to duboce park for the dogfest 2010. there were millions of dogs, and lots of silent and live auction items up for grabs. we met some adorable guys -- i was going to steal this chubby nonstop smiling pomeranian and randall befriended a rambunctious black lab mix -- but alas our landlord has a no dog policy. boo on that.

once we had our fill of puppies, we grabbed the N and headed over to amoeba for record store day. jonsi (from sigur ros) was doing an in-store, and since i missed the show i wanted to make sure i saw him. the show was pretty great, his voice is absolutely enchanting and his band was amazingly darling. i love it when musicians look like they actually love playing (as opposed to the ones who are clearly there because they have to be). while at amoeba we ran into our old pal jonathan. it's been a long time since we'd seen him and he's got stuff cooking on all sorts of burners. i hope we see him again soon, i want to play too!

now, after a few hours break, we're about to head over to oakland (twice in one week even!) for a happy birthday jessi uber-kitschy thai food celebration!

it's definitely been a pretty great day.

ps. i need to own alex's horse sweater. that thing is the best.

we put the fun in fort funston

today randall and i had sushi duty. chris is working on his film and they needed to get sushidog out of the house. at first it looked like it was going to be a miserable day -- in fact it was raining when we picked her up -- but in a few hours the clouds rolled away and everything was peautiful. so we hopped in the car and headed down to fort funston. we frolicked in the park area and then ran out to the beach. sushi chased birds, hung with other little dogs, got chased by larger dogs, and had way too much fun. so did we, and afterwards we went to pop's for sandwiches and then came home and passed out.

ps. i love her little tongue in this pic.
