How do you doodle?

Was anyone else surprised by the rain? On my drizzly walk home I checked out doodlecam a new photo filter app. Ta Da!

Say it ain't sew!

This evening Julie and Andie and I headed over to WorkshopSF for a sewing class. I didn't think I needed to take a class, but generally speaking I like teaching myself things and then cutting corners when executing. I figured seeing someone show me exactly what the right techniques are would be good. And I thought it would motivate me to do something. Truth be told I didn't really learn much I didn't already know, but I had a fun time and it was really motivating. Plus now I have another sock monster who wears a beer koozie for shorts. You know you're jealous. Tomorrow I'm going to pull out the ol' machine and make myself something else. I don't know what, but I'm excitebike!

Ps. Totally looking forward to my pie in a jar class on Sunday with Aki and Erin. Pie party!

Pps. How did I not know about workshopSF already?

Ppps. Mr. Peanut the dog was pretty cute

SF Noir

Us nerds both came home late today. I cooked us up some potato chicken curry (this dish is part of my new delicious repertoire and you should be jealous) and then Randall played some LA Noir. I actually really enjoy watching video games like this. In this case, it's like a movie I get to tell what to do. Maybe someday I'll even play on my own.

Tower of babble.

This evening jeff (who's a new face to the sugar HQ) and I met up with
Carolyn for some drinking and eating. The three of us used to work
together back in the tower days and like to hang out every so often.
Sadly, we hadn't grabbed eats in almost a year. It didn't feel that
long but it was. Funny how time flies.

Speaking of time flying, it's hard to believe we spent almost three
hours at fang (the fancy version of honk). I'd like to say that it's
just because we were enjoying each other's company so much, but
reality is the service there is pretty crappy. They never even asked
us if we wanted another round of drinks and it took like an hour to
get the check. It was like the exact opposite of honk. (Good thing we
had a lot of catching up to do.) The food however was delicious (if
not lacking that wok essence I expect from honk). But all that said I
had a great time and enjoyed my company tremendously. It just might
have been even more fun with a second cocktail.

The right stripes

Work is a but ridiculous on wednesdays, but at the end of the day I
get to hang out with the kids at 826. Tonight was the release party
and there were some pretty great articles (including one about how
google is maybe an evil company). This time all but two kids read
outloud, normally there's about 6 or 7 kids who won't read. We bribed
the kids with cupcakes this time. Guess it worked.

Afterwards I met up with anneh (she lives nearby) for coffee (okay
actually hot chocolate and iced tea). Today we were both striped up.
Our right stripes have got the right stuff indeed.

The one where we pretend we're ready to settle down

This afternoon Randall and I drove around the city checking out open
homes. We had seven places to see and I sort of fell smitten with one.
I'd buy it now, but it wasn't really in our ideal location (north of
cesar chavez, south of market/duboce, west of guerrerro, east of diamond).
Plus, who am i kidding, we're not ready yet. It's just something we're
toying with. If the right place comes along who knows. Although that
little west portal craftsman would be quite cute.

The daily grind

I have a confession to make. I'm a teeth clencher and grinder. In fact
I even wear a tiny night guard each night to help prevent this. I know
it sounds nerdy, but it's true.

I got the night guard a little over two years ago and I completely
wore a groove in it from where my teeth scrape back and forth each
night. Because of this, the grinder (which is what I call my night
guard) became totally ineffective. I know this because I've been
waking up in the morning with awful tension headaches from where I've
been clasping my jaw together like a sprung bear trap.

To stop this from happening, my dentist is kindly (thanks to a thing
called money) rebuilding it for me. Here I am testing it out. It seems
to work fine, but all the clenching to make it fit correctly and lying
upside down in the dentist chair (plus the crazy headache I was
already nursing) really did me in. On my way back to work, there was a
split second where I thought I was going to throw up all over
Montgomery street. I didn't, but it was a close call.barf

How goth of me

This afternoon the bella gals were testing out a bunch of black
lipsticks. There was one lipstick without a model and so I volunteered
to help out. I thought it looked ridiculous and then I thought it made
me look badass. Total ridiculous badass.

In other news I've had a headache that just won't go away for hours
now. Bleh.
