saying "salud!" to gt!

GT at Tres Agavealthough garrick's last day in the office is actually wednesday, a bunch of us sent him off in style tonight. originally there was a pizza party in the cards, but in the end we partied down at tres agaves. and if you think about it, tacos are actually the best way to send him off. plus, tacos go well with margaritas (or in my case, micheladas), and margaritas go really well with peer-pressured tequila shots.

not everyone succumbed, but 8 of us did, and that's a lucky number to party.

gt, i can't believe you're leaving us. you will be sorely missed. after all, who will call me on my bullshit? or be serious face on command? it's been a real honor working with you. i hope our paths cross again in the future. and until then, i hope your future is full of really bad netflix streamed movies.

ps. seriously rain fog? you couldn't hold off just another 15 minutes so we could check out that eclipse? really?

salud!

falling apart at the seams

technically it's not really falling apart if you're using a seam ripper, now is it?

after a surprisingly long day at work, i headed to shoppingtown to take pictures for the next actually nevermind definition. it was mostly a fail (you'll see tomorrow), but while downtown i decided to pop into some stores to buy some random crap. i ended up getting these huge ol' tank tops for $4 and now i'm going to turn them into something else. i'm leaning towards a scarf, but i'm not totally sure. for now i'll just rip it all apart and see what it says to me once i get all the pieces.

the wind walkers

randall and i have been in an unspoken walking competition for a few weeks (although he lost his little nintendo pedometer thingy, so i am always the winner). we had become pretty car-reliant, and needed a good excuse to get back into walking. i must say, it's not an easy task, mostly because i hate my hill. it's steep, and at the end of a work day it's the last thing i want to do.

however if i have good company (like today), it's not so bad at all.

today was sort of windy on the way home. luckily this new (to me) dress has a good cut and didn't result in me flashing the neighborhood. it's also an awesome bright color, and goes well with my lil' cameltoe keds.

yes i know, i said cameltoe.

i repeat, this is a bad idea (jusqu'a la fin)

i’m not sure how, but this afternoon i ended up taking a break in order to hunt down bad tattoos on flickr. The game went like this. Pick a band (any band) and search “bandname tattoo” - the results were mostly hilarious, and while there were many morrissey faces (several in which he sort of looks bloated), mostly there were lyrics. Seems like folks like to have lyrics printed on them. I mean, dude, check this one guy out, he has them all over (sidenote: if this is you, um, i’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing at the 60 year old you with saggy ben gibbard lyrics all over your body — and we all know how I feel about ben gibbard).

when I was looking at all of these, I thought it would be fun to make today’s photo something i would've done in college, but thankfully didn't. however, I can’t write backwards with a thick eyeliner that well, and the markers didn’t work so good. so this wouldn't look like what i would've done, but it is the phrase i probably would've picked. And the photo is moody because duh, if this was a real I obviously would’ve been helluva emo.

ps. bonus points if you can name my lyrical reference.

pps. after work and standard friday beer o'clock, i met randall, eric and kele for dinner at bar jules. it was good and solid, but not worth going back, the halibut was a little salty and the cost a bit too much.

it are my birthday

so here i am, a whole year older.

if the rest of the year is anything like today then i've got a lot of fevers, tea, naps, singing birds (netflix recommended enchanted to me, so i watched it. i can't believe i sat through it all, i blame the sickness. way too saccharine for my tastes), law & order reruns, and tartine morning buns (randall surprised me with one this morning) to look forward to.

and while it's not the most awesome of birthdays (especially since i had randall cancel dinner reservations because right now food sounds awful, even if it is offal), there are plenty of worse ways to spend the day. i mean if it wasn't for the fever and achey bones, it's been a pretty sweet day of doing nothing.

thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. especially burger who is in the lead with the "Rip di di di di di dip it's your birthdaaaayyyyy" reference.

oh and i totally heart netflix on demand.

I Earned This Salted Caramel Gold

For weeks, no make that months, randall and i have been putting off our garage cleaning duties. We're lucky enough to have a place in San Francisco that actually has a garage, and believe me we've taken advantage of it by shoving all sorts of things into it. Unfortunately we learned last winter that it retains water when it rains heavily. While we had thrown out the sad waterlogged boxes a long time ago, we never got around to actually organizing things. So today we spent nearly the entire day in the garage. It's not amazing, but it's getting closer.

The worst part is that even though I was the one who designated today as garage day, I tried to get us out of it by suggesting a drive up the coast or something more fun. Sadly randall decided to play the adult and made us spend the day with dust and cardboard. Afterwards I decided that all the hard work earned us a cone at Bi-Rite creamery. However once again randall played the adult and told me that I had to eat dinner first. Luckily the grocery store sells their delicious ice cream by the pint, so I was able to eat dinner and then enjoy my treat at home.

Bi-Rite Salted Caramel, I heart you!
