The Daily Sabs

i recently started volunteering at 826 valencia as an "editor" for the bayfarer (their newspaper). I put editor in quotes because all adult volunteers are "editors" and all the kids in the workshop are "reporters" - i'm not really editing as much as i am lending a hand and nudging kids in the right direction. this was my first issue and i think it's going to end up being a lot of fun. however, despite all the fun, there is one thing that is going to be difficult: my mouth.

in case you didn't know, and if we're pals you probably do, i have a pretty awful sailor mouth. i am particularly fond of the f-word, but have been known to shit all over everything too. i don't like seeing it in the written word (with writing, you have the ability to edit yourself), but in speech things just slip out. so now, every wednesday from 6-8, i need to make sure i keep my cool and don't go all sailor on them. (oh and yes, randall actually does say "okay sailor" to me on a regular basis).

shit, this is going to be hard.

i went to a blogher meetup today in redwood city. it was hosted by the lovely liz henry (who i might add, rocks the dyed hair in a way i never pulled off during my hair-dying years) and was just a casual gathering of blogher folks in the area. next month there's a big convention in chicago (yours truly will be there, so drop me a line if you are going) and this was just a gathering to say hi and meet some folks who are also going.

i have to admit, i was a little bit nervous to go to this. i wasn't sure who would be there, what the personalities would be like, or what i would say. would it be weird because i work at sugar, or would it be better? who knew. however it wasn't weird, it turned out to be a lot of fun, plus i met some really great folks (and had some great foods - whoever made the rocking corn/black bean salad, please to give me the recipe? thanks.).

to familiarize us with everyone's sites, liz printed out the homepage of everyone's blog. here i am posing near mine. is that meta or is it just vain? i'm not sure, but i can tell you what is vain. me "retouching" out my panda eyes. they were huge, i couldn't handle them.

ps. the bangs totally need a cut, this weird parting is what starts to happen when they get too long. they shift left and right and it's a parting of the seas. anyone want to take a bet on how long it takes before i actually cut them?
