House guest!

Samshrew and chris are headed out of town for a wedding and sadly they can't take sushi dog with them. This means for the next week we'll be hanging with the soosh. So far so good, I fed her cheese when her parents skeedaddled and now we're BFF. At home sushi sleeps in the bed, but randall says that's not gonna happen here. I'm betting that it does. In fact I predict she sleeps on his head. Time for bed to find out!

dog day afternoon

dog party

this afternoon a gang of us headed down to k9 playtime for jesusita's quinceanera. jesusita is burger's 15 year old teeny tiny chihuahua, and to help her celebrate her ripe old age, burger threw her a bash. that's right, we went to a dog party.

there were quite a few pups there, and proud pup owners. there were even a few impostors there (like ourselves, and annie and dylan who also do not own a dog). we watched puppies play, ate cake and sang happy birthday. chris even ate some of the dog cake (peanut butter and carrots or something like that. he said it was dry. and for the record he didn't realize it was dog cake). we also got to meet new pups like gene's dog squeegee (sorry gene for not making the illustration, i ran out of space - but if it's any consolation, your dog is the one randall wanted to steal the most).

burger's invite said to dress to impress, so randall put on his professor outfit (the long hair combed over and the beard solidifed the look), and i wore this ridiculous skirt that is normally reserved for holiday parties). some of the other folks were dressed up (not as many as i hoped) and some of the pups also were in outfits. sadly, because of a junk filter fiasco, sushi was not one of them. i was going to make her a skirt, but i thought samshrew never emailed me size restrictions. guess the internet didn't want any dog showing up the quinceañera queen.

afterwards randall and i went to a so-so open house and then ran to target. yes we were still in our ridiculous outfits.

(good enough) for you and the rest of us

To help chris continue celebrating his birthday, Randall and I headed over to their house for cake and tv. They recently got a new giant tv, blue ray, and surround sound system and wanted to show it off. We needed a movie to watch and luckily bao sent me the 25th anniversary version of the goonies for Xmas (he didn't get the no gifts memo). This edition is pretty rad in that it also comes with a board game. The game itself is not amazing, but we had a good time, and besides, I always like a game where I win. We also tied in dinner with the theme by ordering dominos (chunk holds up a box at the end). Now if only we had remembered the rocky road ice cream. Although to be honest it would've been far too much paired with samshrew's cake. With the help of the barefoot contessa, she made us a rocking chocolate cake. The ganache was to die for. It made us all happy, even the cake. The only one who was sad was sushidog. We didn't let her eat the domino's or cake, but she tried to clean it off our faces anyway. That goonie!

we put the fun in fort funston

today randall and i had sushi duty. chris is working on his film and they needed to get sushidog out of the house. at first it looked like it was going to be a miserable day -- in fact it was raining when we picked her up -- but in a few hours the clouds rolled away and everything was peautiful. so we hopped in the car and headed down to fort funston. we frolicked in the park area and then ran out to the beach. sushi chased birds, hung with other little dogs, got chased by larger dogs, and had way too much fun. so did we, and afterwards we went to pop's for sandwiches and then came home and passed out.

ps. i love her little tongue in this pic.

my dogs is tired

for some reason this weekend really turned in to a tourist in my own backyard sort of weekend. first it was alcatraz, then it was the wave organs, and today it was mclaren park with samshrew, chris, randall and sushi dog. we hung out for a few hours and made friends with some other dogs, and then we went for foods. it was such a peautiful day, the weather was really warm, and as you can tell, it wore me and sushidog out.

breakfast fail, afternoon success

this morning randall and i got up early -- as in actually set the alarm on a saturday -- to head to the ferry building for breakfast. in case you haven't heard, or don't live in the area, the saturday ferry building farmer's market is a total food porn extravaganza. and the big draw, the thing that made us get up at the same time we do for work, is the fish tacos at primavera. these fish tacos are hands down my favorite fish tacos in all of the bay area. maybe it's just the primavera tortillas (which are heavenly), but i like to think the entire package is amazing.

sadly, when we arrived, we saw that the fish tacos were NOT on the menu today. it was such a disappointment. i mean, their chilaquiles are great, but it's no fish tacos. the worst part is that this let down could've been avoided, i just discovered that primavera does put its saturday menu online afterall. FAIL.

luckily the rest of the day didn't follow the fail pattern. we managed to get knives sharpened (it's been almost a year of saying "we should get these sharpened"), go to a corgi gathering in the park with chris and sam, get some comic books, get rid of some crap on craigslist, and even make time for a cat nap.

ps. if you go to the ferry building farmer's market, you also have to get the bacon from fatted calf. if you are in a situation where you can not bring home the bacon, be sure to grab some of their beef jerky instead.

pps. samshrew and chris have some big news. you can't see it in this pic, but there be some bling on it!

i ruined the fun family portrait (but here's sushi)

because i had the macro setting on still from when i was taking pictures of sushi dog, so it's all blurry but my big ol' face.

this morning sam, chris, randall and i went down to the shanghai dumpling king. it was just so-so, i don't understand the wait. the soup dumplings were good because they're soup dumplings, but they're not great. and the dirty dishes and mediocre service aren't really worth it.

what was worth it was picking up sushi and walking down to the presidio. i tried to put a treat on her nose and have her wait before eating it, but she wasn't having any of it. i couldn't even get to the put it on the nose stage.

thanks for the fun kids!

ps. here's the closeup pic of sushi after she'd been digging in the dirt.

Sushi party!

Randall and I had to go play dogwalker texas ranger this evening. My sister was at a work dinner and chris was at work. This meant that uncle jimmy and aunt P had to come to the rescue.

Sadly when we got there young sushi dog was so excited she wet the floor. So much for being good dog rangers.

After going out for a walk, we brought sushi back in and tried to tucker her out by playing fetch. It seemed to work, as eventually she slowed down and then stopped playing. Unfortunately our plan backfired and now we're tuckered out too.

Ps. randall says it's puppered out not tuckered out

Pps. I like how her dog treat looks like a party blower

Ppps. In case you're wondering, Randall is known as jimmy for reasons we can barely remember. I am P for pig, obviously.
