We miss Miss Maria!

This afternoon I came out of a meeting and walked into a pleasant
surprise. Maria was visiting! Last time I saw her she was overpreggers
with twins! I thought back then that she glowed because she was
happily pregnant, but I guess that wasn't the case. Turns out it's her
personality that glows all the time. We miss you Maria! Thanks for
brightening our day!

Ps. Melissa never poses for photos.

Mad props.

This afternoon Melissa and I made a fun run to daly city. We're doing
a booth at blogher this year, and not to giveaway any spoilers, but
we've got some awesome tricks up our sleeves. These tricks involve
both candy and funny props, and since there's not enough time in the
week, we made a prop/candy run on the weekend.

Originally it wasn't going to be an outing, but then I discovered that
my prop run was near her candy run and so we made a date out of it. DK
texted saying she'd join, but it was too late we were already in daly
city. So afterwards we met her for lunch at nopalito. Yum!

Ps. It's hard to see, but Melissa has on a fuzzy tiara and dk is
wearing Minnie mouse ears.

Good thing there are no vampires around

This morning I went in for some routine bloodwork. I had an
appointment, but naturally they saw me about 35 minutes after my
scheduled time. It was annoying to be late for work (there is so much
going on), but it was nice to arrive and have my new desk made
already. You see we ripped out the cubes, and then had to make our own
replacement desks. Now we're crowded and have less space. Ghettz! But
some desk fairy helped me out, and I didn't have to make mine. So
thanks desk fairy! And thanks for making me late appointment place.

The ladies have a very important meeting

For weeks Julie has been asking to have her life fulfilled (aka eat a
tasty lunch), so today reiko, Julie, and I headed over to tea garden
for some taiwanese niu roh mian (beef noodle soup). While there we
chatted about our moms and slurped up the noodles. Julie told us a
story about how her mom called her once at 11pm asking where she was
because a lady doesn't stay out like that. Oh moms, ladies do stay
out, they also eat soup. Lots of yummy soup.

The face of a volunteer

I've been really busy at work lately, and so when this week started I
already felt over it. The short week fever was in the air and I just
wanted to get out there. Lucky for me a project I was working on
finished up on Tuesday and so I decided to bail on today. However I
didn't really want to sit around doing nothing, so I found a few
places to hang out.

First up was 826 Valencia where I helped Erin and the rest of gang
stick preforated tabs and addresses on the holiday fundraiser mailer.
It was a few hours of sticking and labeling, and it was an oddly
almost fun time. I love what 826 does and have always wanted to help
out. I just never had the chance or got around to it. So while there I
agreed to start helping out on a weekly basis. I figured i might as
well put my actions where my mouth is.

Afterwards I headed over to Martin de porres over on potrero to help
out with thanksgiving dinner prep. I'd never helped out there before,
but I called yesterday and they told me that they'd love the help.
Martin's is a soup kitchen/free restaurant where folks can come get a
homemade meal and a hot shower. If you're looking for a place to lend
a hand they could always use one. They're looking for folks who can
commit. Randall and I are thinking of going once a month if their
weekend needs match our availability.

Yes. I have been hit by the volunteer bug. But I've been saying this
for a long time. Like I said, it's about time to put my words into
action.

Ps. While at 826 Dave eggers stopped by. I loved that he didn't know
the mailer letter was (supposedly) co-written by him.

Pps. I wanted to take a pic with the folks at martins, but we were all
too busy and then it felt weird when there were just a few folks left.

Ahoy matey!

Today I steered my life downtown for the Randall beautification
project. He's not much of a shopper but has an upcoming meeting that
calls for something that, well, looks less than three years old and
isn't covered in funny animals. It was definitely a long and
exhausting excursion but luckily I found a boat wheel to make sure we
were right on course.

Ps. My favorite part of the day was that fact that we were able to run
all these errands, eat lunch at a great sandwich place, and yet never
once had to get into a car.

I don't think I fit the word sophisticated

My hair is a wreck these days. The bangs are getting too long and the
awesome cut i had is nowhere to be found. And despite that, I got told
I looked sophisticated and fancy today. Well, the people are fooled. I
have a feeling fancy people don't wear beaten up jean jackets and hang
out at home depot.

Just another lazy day

I managed to do very little today outside of the realm of lazing
about. Although I did talk to morm for a very long time (for the
record she still doesn't get what a blog is despite the fact that I've
had one for nearly ten years) and that is always fun.

Another thing I managed to do today was put Randall to work. We went
to the Asian grocery store for potsticker fixings and once i had the
filling concoted, i made him put them together. His technique is still
a bit stoppable (okay maybe a lot stoppable), but they come out decent
and I'm sure they're going to taste great when we have them for dinner
tomorrow.

Ps. I didn't mean to cut my face off, I just still don't understand
where to point this thing.
