This afternoon the bella gals were testing out a bunch of black
lipsticks. There was one lipstick without a model and so I volunteered
to help out. I thought it looked ridiculous and then I thought it made
me look badass. Total ridiculous badass.

In other news I've had a headache that just won't go away for hours
now. Bleh.

I spent the afternoon attaching my business card to little gift bags of candy. Yes I realize, it's a bit of a bribe, but I figure that since my friendship can be won with treats, maybe I can win someone else's with treats. Also, I like to make folks smile, and 99% of the time, candy does the trick. So even if we can't be pals, we can share a smile over some smarties and twix. And besides, I work for SUGAR, and we sort of live up to the name, so it's only appropriate.

long story short, if you're in Chicago for Blogher, come find me! I have candy and friendship for you!

is there life on mars?

for some reason i became totally addicted to bowie's life on mars this morning. however i don't own any bowie, let alone this particular track. this is not because of my poor taste, but because of the "if your roommate owns this then you can save your money" phenomenon. why i haven't remedied it in all these years probably stems from the "i can just google it when i need to hear it" phenomenon. because of these two things, and the new-found addiction, the music video for life on mars (which i found on youtube, but stupidly can't embed here - thanks record labels) has been playing all morning. i'd say i was driving randall crazy, but he's escaped into his DS so that he can fully ignore me.

while watching the video, i thought it would be fun to recreate bowie's eyemakeup. i'm not sure why, (1) what do i know about makeup and (2) do i even own any makeup? --- the answer to 2 is apparently yes and the answer to 1 is not much. but, since the makeup was still out from last night's wolf getup, i figured why not. and while i don't have the huge dilated pupil like bowie, i do have a freckle in mine, and that's gotta be worth something.

Pineapples, Pirates and Steep Hills

I live up a pretty steep hill. Make that a ridiculously steep hill. As in I haven't worn heels since we moved here sort of a hill. However it's in a great location and i love my neighbors. So I walk the walk - unless I can catch a ride - and today was a day to walk the walk.

While walking, these are the things I thought about.

Does San Francisco have a high number of hipsters who like pirates because of 826 Valencia? Or did 826 go the pirate route because of the high number of pirate loving hipsters?
Am I the only one who loves the inside core of the pineapple? That is my favorite part.
There is a house on 17th street that has been on the market forever, and yet the money pit house's sign is gone. Does this mean the San Francisco market will someday be in my reach?
When I try to eat cheese and crackers for dinner, Randall gets on my case (he believes that just because adults can eat junkfood for dinner, doesn't mean that they should). However, if I eat a baguette with some cheese and call it a "sandwich" he's totally okay with that. Shouldn't I just be allowed to eat crackers in peace?
