In an octopus's garden (happy Halloween!)

Note: I accidentally posted this to pig instead. So while i technically didn't post a daily, it wasn't like i forgot or didn't do it. i am just an idiot. now on to halloween.

For halloween Randall and I decided to go as an octopus's garden. I
made us these costumes with some random things and am pretty excited
by how the octopus came out (I'll have to show a better picture
later). The garden is just so so, but Randall is a sport and is
rocking it well. I realize though that if I had a kid and made these
kind of costumes for them, they would get their asses kicked. Although
if they had a sushi dog dressed as a lobster they might get a pass. So
hey, give us a pass.

Fiasco!

This evening I decided to toss on the ol' spicy chef apron (really, it
says spicy chef on it) and whip up a treat for tomorrow. Only it
didn't quite go as planned. The stuff that should stick didn't stick,
and the stuff that shouldn't did. And now my kitchen is destroyed and
I have nothing good to show for it. Gwah.

Oh the commute

So in case you haven't heard, the bay bridge is out. This is
apparently screwing commutes all up and down the bay area. The weird
thing is, it's screwing my commute also. Yesterday and today were just
overpacked trains. Miserable people and standing far too close to
people. This picture doesn't actually do it any justice as it was
before the people all clamored on.

I don't get it though. My commute goes the opposite direction from the
bay bridge. How on earth is the outage affecting it? Anyone have any
theories?

I can has a flower power

I spent the evening working on halloween costumes and sadly I don't
have enough fake flowers. Now I'm questioning if flowers are even
working. I think I've gone for the wrong motif, but that's all I can
say. I want them to be a surprise you know.

These costumes are going to be ghettoriffic. I can't wait for you to
see them.

Lions and dogs oh my

This evening Randall and I ran some errands and ended up in the
Halloween aisle (which is right next to the already on display
Christmas aisle). Actually Randall ended up there first and then
wandered around with this mask on until he found me. Once he found me
we wandered back so I could get a mask too. I opted for a lion. The
cat just seemed too obvious.

hello from thirty thousand feet (aka the one where we let molly down)

right now we are literally traveling through time and space. anneh and i are thirty thousand some feet up, on a plane on the way back to san francisco. the view out my window is pitch black dotted with the lights of people snuggled in their homes watching tv. i hope to be one of them soon. chicago was grand fun central, but it's time for home.

oh and this is us with our own ghetto airplane pretend wine series. we wanted to grab a glass before we got on the plane, but we didn't have enough time thanks to the teenagers that assist the folks in wheelchairs (anneh was sporting one at the airport). and yes i'm positive they're all teenagers. if not, then chicago has a high concentration of folks who are in their twenties that look like they're 14, oh and they all work at the airport.

at anyrate we didn't have time, and we slept through beverage service, but we wanted to play along, so here we are. cheers free wifi plane internet. we are drunk off your mighty powers (also, quite possibly still drunk from boozing all weekend, but that's another story).

Say cheese Chicago!

Today anneh and I hung out with the Betty and then afterwards I had
them drop me off at tuttle and erin's house. While their neighborhood
is not the worlds greatest, their place is amazing. We hopped on our
bikes (like good portlanders they had an extra), went thrift store
shopping and then went to Simone's for dinner and some drinks.

After a few rousing hands of uno (seriously it took a few rounds of
shuffling), we headed back to their house where we hung out on the
porch and then headed down to rainbo where anneh and her crew were
hanging out. They had a photo booth there so we definitely goofed about.

Say cheese Chicago!

Someone had way too much fun with Photoshop

This evening Annie and I went to her pals' Josh and Antonia's wedding.
We had a good time and chatted with some good people. Afterwards we
decided to go to the whistler, but there was a line outside and I
don't do bars with lines. However if we hadn't had to pause outside I
never would've seen this awesome photography studio that was next door.

This was some of the most awesome/bad Photoshop work I have ever seen.
Believe me if we weren't traveling right now (read: lazy no tripod and
lights) I would have remade this masterpiece for you. But since I
can't, I knew I at least had to share it with you.why can't i

anneh and i at the airport (sans wine series)

anneh and i are here at sfo waiting for our flight to board. they didn't bump us up to buisness time class, but they did give us better seats. so score one for travelling with the girl on crutches.

ps. i love the guy in the background picking his ear

pps. no wine series despite the fact that the flight was delayed. i don't know why. i didn't think about it until it was too late. we'll make up for it next time.

some of my favorite things (man a year goes by fast)

i sort of can't believe i started this dumb project a year ago. but here it is, one year later. looking back, here are a few of my faves:

It's just a small smattering of ones I like. For more laughs, check out the other ones i likey.

so now what? now that it's been a year what should i do? i think it's going to evolve as it goes, but the first rule (i have to take the picture) is already down the drain. randall took today's photo (grudgingly i might add), and who knows who will take tomorrow's.
