The Daily Sabs

the weather cooled down a lot today. in fact we were totally as cool as cats. speaking of which, randall and i went to hang out with milo and minou today. their mom and auntie is out of town and someone needed to give them a daily snorgle and some foods. as soon as we got there they were happy to see us and loveyedup, milo even demanded the head pats, but as soon as we fed them they were over us.

i however needed a picture still. so i rounded them back up, smooshed them together and made them pose. they (if you can't tell) were having none of that. there were a few pictures that came out "better" but this one was just so funny to me.

oh to prove to you that they're cuter than that, here's a picture of that milo being cute. it's almost hard to believe it's the same kitty.

i spent a good chunk of the day cleaning out my closet. it was an ill-advised idea, especially considering it was a million degrees in my bedroom. however, it's something i'd been putting off for months and set aside today to do, so i did it.

hidden amongst all the clothes i no longer wear was this fella. many years ago randall and i didn't live in the same town, and as a joke (we have a rule that if we're going to do valentine's day gifts they have to be jokey ones), he bought me a boyfriend arm pillow to keep me company. and while it looks dumb and is pretty dumb, it's actually a really cosy pillow. however now that randall's here everynight there's no room for the boyfriend. also, i'm a married lady these days and keeping a boyfriend is pretty uncool. so after one last cosy night together, me and the boyfriend are breaking up. i'm kicking him to the curb. literally. goodwill will be picking him up sooner than later.

Okay so we're actually just staring at the fishes and not swimming, but you get the point. I love aquariums with tunnels (the kind where the water is all around). there's just something amazing about the way the light glows through.

today randall and i took the opportunity to go to the academy of science museum. it's still a nerd museum, and it is a bit pricey ($3 discount if you use muni!) but it's pretty neat. i sort of want to go to one of the things at night now, but was glad to check it out during the day.

also, i really wish i was actually swimming with the fishes, because F. it is hot today. it's now 11:30pm and i am trying to find ways to cool down the house. i'm contemplating an ice water bath. it's that hot. although i probably shouldn't bitch, i hear it's supposed to be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow.

today is effectively my friday, and so i nerded the evening by playing the latest professor layton game. i'm only a few puzzles in (i just started tonight), but i am going to get to the bottom of the mystery. when i get stuck, instead of reaching for my hint coins, i see if randall can help out. he's my very own apprentice luke.

when looking at yesterday's photo (which apparently scared many of you weaksauces), dk told me that i had really big lips. she said it was a compliment, but it sounded funny, so i told her that today's picture would be upclose of my lips just for her. this way everyone could point out what big lips i have. and while it may be awesome now, i know for a fact that big lips weren't always so in vogue (seriously they weren't that awesome when i was younger). also, i don't think my lips are that big, i think they're pretty proportionate to the rest of everything else, which also happens to be big.

in case you can't tell by the photo reference, i am a true blood fan. and even though it goes back and forth between totally campy and totally great drama (with a little bit of a soft core vignetted edges blur porn feel), i think it's a fun way to veg out.

There's something wonderful about freshly washed sheets. These ones
get bonus points for being brand new and being marimekko. They were a
wedding gift from karenlee, which was slightly ironic in that I
actually owe her a set of sheets from when I got crystalized cough
drop candy drool all over hers way back in 2001. I have no idea why
I'm telling this story.

Ps. Hair is freshly clean now too. You really don't want to know how
long it was between washes.

Pps. Hey lamers, I hope everything went well today!

Today was the big mac and cheese throwdown. Anneh signed up to win and
I was there to help. I brought us the country cats aprons and cute
bento serving dishes and did my best to sell everyone on team 15! Team
fromage!

While we did not win first place (although I think we were a really
solid choice and kept hearing rumblings of our number in the crowd),
we did win photographer favorite. This is sort of hysterical to me as
anneh's been saying all along: even if it's not the best, how could
two cute girls not win? Although honestly, I think her mac was
definitely one of the best and I'm telling myself that the judges just
didn't want us to take home two medals.

Ps. The medal says achievement. Sadly there's only one so we gotta
share. Either way it's so great.

Pps. I do find it funny that anneh (a beauty editor) made the food
while I (former food editor) made it all pretty.

ppps. i did NOT set my competitors on fire on purpose. BOTH times were complete accidents. honest.

Scottelbot is in town and anneh is making a shit load of mac n cheese
(you'll find out why tomorrow). Tonight Scottel was suffering from a
crazy migraine and was trying to get some rest. Sadly, that plan got
thwarted when I stopped by anneh's house with a secret ingredient. You
see, it made her jump for joy (literally) and squeal like a little
teacup piglet. It's going to be amazing and we are going to win.

Ps. I love this picture (even if bot says he "looks as bad as he
feels") and I really miss that scottelbot
