Dilated peoples

This afternoon Randall and I both went in for eye exams. It had been
over four years since I went to the eye doc, and needless to say, it
was a bit overdue. As I mentioned before, I've been having a bit of
eye fatigue lately. Guess why? It's because I need computer glasses.
Apparently four years of working in online media has taken its toll.

I didn't buy a pair yet though, I didn't see a pair I really liked. I
want something fun and funky. Especially since I don't have to wear
them all the time, just you know, the 12 hours I'm on the computer
each day.

I guess nerd Fridays are going to start being real nerd Fridays. Gwah
gwah.

lemonade and late dinners

today katie sugar followed in her dad's footsteps and opened up her own company. it was katie's lemonade stand, and she parked herself in front of the kitchen during high traffic taco friday time. for 25 cents, we each got a glass of lemonade, it wasn't freshly squeezed, or organic, but it was refreshing and cheap. she was hoping to make enough for a pony, but i think she'll have to settle for a toy horse.

like most days lately, it was a long one. there was a crew of us there late this evening, and so afterwork we decided to go grab a bite to eat. a quick bite turned into an accidental outing (we went to chow, where our "same day" reservation was 30 minutes late), but we had a good time and laughs. randall even came out to join us, har har!

the red eye.

i don't remember the last time i had an eye exam. although i do remember that they told me my eyes were 20/20 perfect. that is good news, except the time before that it was some other set of numbers that were above perfect. translation, they were deteriorating. and well, it's probably been 5 years since I've had an exam, so who knows what's happened since then.

i bring this up now because lately, my eyes have been killing me. absolutely killing me. it doesn't really help that i sit in front of the computer about 18 hours a day, and that the lighting in our house is really dim (not to mention randomly peachy colored - i blame the ikea bulbs). and that it's been this routine for the last four years.

i used to really want glasses (no really, i wanted them so badly i had a fake pair in college), but now i think the idea sucks.

ps. i got a safety deposit box today. it was sort of random. i was there for other stuff and then the next thing i knew, i was getting a box. i wanted to take a pic in the vault, but they seemed to frown on that idea.

What the fig?

Okay, I'm no Ali, but sometimes I open my mouth and weird stuff comes out. Today as
I was telling Randall what I was cooking for dinner I said, "we'll
have roast chicken, I have a basket of figs in my new purse."
obviously. It is also obviously why I can't have nice things. Who puts
figs in a purse? This is why I can only buy things from h&m, if my
purse cost $2k I'd probably still put figs in it. *sigh*

In other news, the lemon chicken with figs and olives was delicious. I
meant to take a picture, but well, it was delicious and I forgot.

say tequila!

this evening the sugar marketing team begrudgingly dragged themselves away from their desks to head over to tres agave for a thank you fiesta. everyone has been working like dogs lately and the bossmen took us out to say thank you (well dk and kellan arranged, but they footed the bill). we started off with a margarita making class and then moved quickly to dinner. melissa and i went halfsies on the carnitas and carne asada, but i could barely eat it after all the guac, jicama, and deliciousness that we chowed down.

ps. based on expressions, i think kellan perfected the margarita, elsa maybe not so much

I prove I am part of the demographic by wasting money on shoes I will never wear

After a long day, i needed a little real retail therapy. I got a great
pair of booties that will never see the light of day and some flats I
can wear into the ground. They were on deep clearance for $15 so I
bought two colors. I never do that. I'll probably hate them just
because of it.

In other news, so f'ing exhausted.

Hot in the pot

I woke up this morning to a ringing telephone; it was morm calling for
no reason. We talked for nearly four hours. Afterwards it was time for
some open houses (one pretty good but not a wow), then back home to
talk to my dad. And then it was time for hot pot. We owed samshrew and
chris a dinner and chris wanted to cash in with hot pot. All you can
eat and drink for $29.99, nom nom nom.

Ps. Chris ate so much he's going to be ill all over samshrew. See?

Mad props.

This afternoon Melissa and I made a fun run to daly city. We're doing
a booth at blogher this year, and not to giveaway any spoilers, but
we've got some awesome tricks up our sleeves. These tricks involve
both candy and funny props, and since there's not enough time in the
week, we made a prop/candy run on the weekend.

Originally it wasn't going to be an outing, but then I discovered that
my prop run was near her candy run and so we made a date out of it. DK
texted saying she'd join, but it was too late we were already in daly
city. So afterwards we met her for lunch at nopalito. Yum!

Ps. It's hard to see, but Melissa has on a fuzzy tiara and dk is
wearing Minnie mouse ears.

Celebrating the officialness

I was the last one to leave the office today, and although I really
wanted to go straight home and sleep on the couch, I mustered up the
strength for a celebratory drink. You see lizzy's been officially
offered a job at shopstyle! We've all known for weeks that it was
happening, but today it's official! Congrats lizzy!

Field trip and lipgloss!

This afternoon dk, Melissa, and I headed down to menro park for a
social media seminar marketing meeting speech listening mingling
thing. It was somewhat informative but also made me glad to hear that
we're on the right path. It was great to hang out with these ladies
and it makes me so sad that the only way we can do it is if we have to
go to a work thing.

In other news I let a stranger do my lip makeup on the street today.
They looked official and gave me samples and coupons for my fave
lipsgloss, so I couldn't really just walk in by.

Ps. I almost forgot to post today because as soon as I came home I
started emailing and working for a few hours to catch up for leaving
work early. Sux.
