This afternoon (we got a late start), Randall and I headed to the
natural history museum for a bit of dinosaur fun. But first we had a
h&h bagels vs zabar's taste off. Randall preferred the h&h while I
liked them both equally once they were slathered with fish. It was
randall's first new York bagel and while he conceded that they were
way better than say a noah's bagel, they were no longer unique to new
York. His main point was the bagelry in Santa Cruz. And with this I
would have to agree (come on new yorkers, calm down, while your bagels
are indeed better, they are no longer found in new York only. Deal
with it.)
After the eating we hung out with the dinosaurs (note: Ben stiller and
Ricky gervais were nowhere to be found). That museum is amazing, but
who can really go through the whole thing?
Once we had our fill of fossils, we wandered around central park for a
bit and then took a cab to stumptown. Randall was fading fast and I
knew that was the only thing that could help (btw Scottel, portland is
no longer dead to Randall, the stumptown here roasts in Portland
still, so until they start here, he can see the need).
After we refueled we went around the corner fromour hotel to the
people's improv theater for risk! It's a story telling thing hosted by
Kevin Allison (the redhead from the state). There was a great story
about a mouse.
When that finished we took the subway to Brooklyn where we saw hot tub
featuring Kristen "meg from the conchords" schaal. It's a weekly live
show where comics try out new stuff. I particularly loved it when
Eugene Mirman ran out of material and entertained us with tales of new
York real estate.
Once the laughter died, we popped outside for a dinner adventure. Only
we ran into Nate (we met him at
Alejandra and ammon's wedding and haven't seen him since). He gave us
some good Dominican and Haitian restaurant options, but sadly they
were all closed. It was 11 on a Monday. What's with that folks? I
thought ny never closed?
We ended up at bark for delicious dogs and pb milkshakes that put the
one I got from max brenner to complete shame.
Long day, but fun. And now folks, it's clearly beyond bedtime.
