This afternoon Emily and reiko hosted a crane making workshop in the office. They're doing it for
just one crane a cause Emily helped start to raise money for japan. You make a crane and then post it to facebook to let others know. And then of course, make a donation along the way if you'd like.
Unfortunately I didn't get to go to the crane party due to meetings. And later when I went to take a pic of emi's crane, she told me that was cheating and that I had to make my own. So I grabbed some paper courtesy of reiko (courtesy of Emily) and folded up my crane. Once I did, then I could take the picture. Now our cranes are BFFs. And in case you couldn't tell mine is the slighty janked one.
Now folks, go off and fold more cranes!

I've been wanting to get more involved at 826, and recently I was asked to join the volunteer event committee. We had our first meeting tonight and brainstormed a bunch of ways for volunteers to meet up and hang out more. Essentially they want volunteering to be enriching and fun but now with a few events where we don't have to hang with any of the awesome, if not somewhat ridiculous children. I ended up agreeing to do some brainstorming about the food club and the skill swap craft party. I think we're biting off a lot, but I think it's going to be fun.
Afterwards I walked on home. At first i was upset that I didn't have a coat, but it turned out to be nice enough that I didn't need one. What is up with this weather?!

God I hate this place. But it does feel good to go back after the hiatus. I stopped going once everyone started going for their new year's resolution, and because it was a good excuse to quit. But here we are back on track. God I hate this place.

While the rest of the city went crazy for Britney, Randall and I escaped to the banality of the suburbs. The list of things we needed had gotten long and it was time for the bi-monthly target run. That's all, nothing else. The good ol' life domestic.

This evening Randall and I met up with Karen, shin, and April for a little underground market feasting. We got there at 5:50 and there was already a bit of a line. Luckily it was early enough that there was a huge line. We got in relatively quickly (once they finally opened the doors) and went in search of noms. There were some delicious things (bacon wrapped mochi was yums) and some so-so stuff too (the charcuterie place's gumbo was just okay tonight). However there were two things that really stood out. One was the jerk chicken: perfect flavor, nice spice and totally good price. The other was the Guinness chocolate cake with red beet ice cream. That was one of the most tasty desserts ever. I hope people got a chance to try it, they were sort of buried behind the chicken and waffles line. Overall it was good, but maybe too crowded and man if you got there anytime after 6:30, holy crap that line was out of control.
Afterwards shin and Randall pooped out and us gals went to see win win. Karen and April both really liked it, but I give it a b+ and agree that it is probably better than most. Also, I'm glad films like that get distribution and are being made. But, as I pointed out to April, I don't know what's wrong with me. In real life I LOL all the time and easily too. However at movies or tv it is a super rare thing. My standards are set way high. In this instance, I didn't LOL once, but I did smirk a lot. And if you like non-hollywoodized stories, I'd go check it out.

With the exception of the big Bella clean out (sorry if you missed it, but I think there's still plenty to choose from), work was a little uneventful. If I was smart I'd have taken the day off. But then I would've missed happy hour where the game dudes let off some much needed steam. I feel them on this, the train is going full speed ahead and our fingers are crossed that it doesn't crash.
After happy hour I jetted over to fort mason where I met up with Randall. Erin (who apparently needs a watch) joined us a little bit later. The weather held out and the food was tasty. My favorite was this pork belly sandwich from antano. I seriously couldn't stop talking about it, and I'm kind of wishing I got one to eat later too.
When we were winding down (aka picking the last truck) we ran into Andy r. He lives nearby and had come out for some tastyness. He had a rice thing that looked delicious, and we were trying to convince him to get the fritters for dessert. In hindsight, i wish we had gotten the fritters too. Oh well, I guess there's always next time.

This is not our mini. The battery on ours has gone kaput and apparently it's a special one to power all the nifty future gadgets in the car. This translates to: oh hey we don't have that battery in stock and it won't be here until Monday so here take this loaner. The loaner Cooper makes us realize just how fatty our countryman is.
In other news Randall and I had weird fish for dinner. I ordered the whatever. No really, there's a mystery appetizer section and I ordered the whatever. It turned out to be deep fried fava beans. Before dinner, I stopped by summit to kill some time. I don't know if I like it there, but I end up there a lot. It's just convenient after 826 and well, they do a really great Mexicali hot chocolate.
Ps. On our way home we ran into Reid, he had just run into Q. Small world.

This morning I joined the sales gals (Nicole, Hillary, and Sarah) on a call. It was awesome to see them in action, and hear the whole pitch. 360 magic! I tagged along to give the client more info on our game. Fingers crossed!
On our way there, we drove past the american grilled cheese kitchen and decided to stop there for lunch. Oh my! This place was super duper tasty and if it was closer I would be there all the time. I had the jalapeño cheese item that included apricot jam, and some tomato soup. So delicious. Thanks nicole! If I get lunch treats like this, I'll go on any sales call you gals want!

This evening Karen, April, and I met up at moya for an ethiopian feast. I don't know how we ended up on ethiopian, but it was pretty tasty. It was also a nice girl night out (even if it was old lady hot tea and eating with hands instead of alcoholic drinks and waving our hands) and we were there for almost two hours. Ladies, when are we doing it again?!
Speaking of ladies this afternoon a gang of us went to credo for the Melissa "vacation" shower. It's apparently bad luck in her culture to have baby showers before the baby arrives so we threw her a pizza party instead. With cupcakes, and candy, you know the stuff we like. Hooray Melissa, can't wait to see how your next chapter unfolds! And ps. eat all that candy while you have a good excuse to!

After work, I stopped by the apple store to pick up a case. When I got there, I noticed that there was a line forming outside. I wondered what was going on and so I asked one of the geniuses inside. Apparently a new shipment of ipad2s are hitting the shelves tomorrow at 9am and that was the line that was forming to get their hands on them. Once I completed my transaction, I went outside to check the line. There were already about twenty folks in line but the two guys in front were the best. They were simultaneously giddy and embarrassed. I didn't catch their names and they hid their faces from the camera, but they were these adorable guys visiting from hong kong. They told me that the iPad2 wasn't coming out for months over there so they were going to get one while they're here. And they were willing to wait for 16+ hours to get one. I didn't get the story about the empty chair but I joked about joining my new pals. Then I remembered oh wait I stayed up and ordered one at 1am the first day and already have one. Sorry guys I won't be joining you, but I hope you stay warm out there tonight!
