It started off by reading this book (uncubicled) that started off great and is now turning into a total train wreck. Randall tried to warn me, but I didn't listen. Now I'm stubbornly finishing it since I'm already 92% finished.
Next up was this ipad game I found called Drawn. The artwork is stunning in HD, and it's really just fun a puzzle game disguised behind a moody story. Unfortunately it was short and I finished it before I felt I'd gotten my $5 worth. However, that's not going to stop me from buying the sequel, and if I think about it, it was more enjoyable than two iced teas, and just as fulfilling as a movie.
I puttered about on the iPad some more (having it suddenly makes me not care if Randall is hogging the teevee with stupid dragon age), then coerced Randall into finishing castle crashers with me. We only had the last level left, and it was taunting me to finish it. Once that was done I caught up on some shows that were lingering on the TiVo, and then returned back to the iPad.
When the iPads first came out, I was thrilled at the idea of drawing while sitting on the couch. I used to be really into vector illustration, but hate having to sit in the freezing back room with the bad lighting. So I sort of stopped when we moved here 5 years ago. Unfortunately there weren't any good vector programs out and the fatfinger ipad drawing capabilities didn't thrill me, so I didn't dive in. With the new gen, I decided to take a risk (also early adopter Randall was going to get one whether I cared or not since he was already "behind"). I am so glad I did! I found a great app called inkpad. It's essentially illustrator-lite and so far I love it. I have a fatty stylus too, but a new pen-sized one should be coming soon. As you can see, I'm a little rusty, but I am waaaayyy too excited at the idea of drawing directly on the screen! Squee! My kind of nerd Saturday indeed.
