This evening Randall and I met up with Sara and Dave for a surreal night of eating. We started the fun off at the Chinatown garage (wisdom section because we are so wise) where the adventure began with "Jackie chan" a random guy we met in the square. I'm pretty sure he wanted to take us to a restaurant he gets a kickback from, but he actually gave us his phone number so we could call him later. Sara and I think we might actually take him up on it. Dave, I can tell, thinks this is a terrible idea.
Once we got to our actual restaurant destination we noticed that the waiter was a little surly. Dave kept thinking the guy was glaring and ignoring him, but then realized it was that the tv above our table.
After our meal (tasty shanghainese food from the bund) we were walking down an alley and the guys thought we were being followed. Then there was the lady in the elevator who was wandering around even after we left her to pay. Something about it was really off and weird. I'd say our paranoia was due to all the wire we've been watching, but Dave and Sara haven't seen it and they felt the same way. Dave even checked his car for a tracking device it was that weird. Seriously!

I swear to you, on my way to 826 today I thought I was going to get blown into the street. It was that kind of wind!

This afternoon I took a late lunch to meet up with Angie. She and I were part of the small group of girls in the UCSC compsci department. (that's right if you didn't know, I have a CS degree.) We were study pals and made it through the ropes together. We even had the same weird crush on the same weird non-crushworthy professor (what can I say, we apparently had a thing for bug-eyed crazy talkers).
Lunch was a fun trip down memory lane, and catchacatchup. It's been 10 years (shit I am old) since we'd seen each other and so we had a lot of chatting to do. It was sort of a shame I had to go back to work.

This afternoon I ran into anneh at the elevator and we decided to make happy hour plans. We were up for something new(ish) and so headed to the house of shields. Anneh wants it to be the house of Kevin shields, and while the music inside was quite good, I didn't hear any bloody valentine.

Wake. Work. Hurry home. Portal. Wire.
Repeat tomorrow.

What started off as a rainy do nothing (except portal) day turned into a gorgeous hang out outside day. Randall and I checked out a pretty sweet open house (we should probably bid but for some reason probably aren't going to) and then came home and did some yard work. The front of the house has been looking bad news and I've been afraid of the neighbors finally saying something. So we put on our work gloves and pulled some weeds. Afterwards we grilled some lamb chops and paired them with mint yogurt sauce, grilled asparagus, and chicken infused couscous. It was the perfect spring meal for a perfect spring day.
Happy easter!
Ps. We had lamb in honor of Easter mostly so Randall could say we were eating the lamb of god.

This morning I woke up and my hair was on end. No joke, this is an undoctored photo of my hair straight out of bed. I guess you can say i was past due. One trip for a hair dryer later (mine blew up in my hands the other day) and we're back in action. I clean up alright, no?
Today itself was a pretty decent day. I went in to (finally) get fingerprinted for 826, and afterwards dragged randall to That's It for a super delicious torta. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but didn't realize there was actually a place to sit (it's part restaurant/part convenience store) until I saw it on No Reservations. So thanks Anthony Bourdain, you pushed this place from the "should go someday" list to the "oh i should go now" list and I'm glad i did. Deeeeellicious. And i like the vibe in there. Total hole in the wall awesome.
Later, after torta life fulfillment, and some Chris/Sam/Sushidog time, I headed out to the Tonga room for Alisha's bayarea bachelorette party. we drank delicious drinks in festive glasses. seriously, don't bother choosing your drink based on what you want to drink, they're all just wonderfully sweet. base it on which glass you want to be seen drinking out of. will you be a tiki face, a coconut, a tidal wave, or just a full-on pineapple. really the choices are endless.

Oh hello, are you there? In case you couldn't tell, I've been playing a lot of portal. It's not very practical, but it would be fun to have one of them guns.

This evening the 826 kids and I wrote our stories in style. We decided that it would be great to turn our hair into moustaches. It just seemed like the sophisticated thing to do.

A bunch of random circumstance put a gang of us sugar folks at metropol tonight. Looks like that place is the official home of the sugar happy hour.
