bold marketing moves

this afternoon i headed over to cafe venue for a little chit chat with christopher. his gang at the bold italic is trying to test out some new things and so i offered to help. blah blah blah marketing. that's what i sounded like. it was a good conversation though and i hope it helps some. weeee, marketing!

ps. sometimes my head spins around when i think about being friends with christopher. my fine-watch-sing-along-lookout-record-loving-18-year-old self is doing cartwheels somewhere. don't tell him though, i don't want him to get too embarrassed.

In the weeds

I forgot to take a before picture, but trust me, the illustration isn't exaggerated. The weeds in our backyard had gotten a little out of hand. But today we got to whipping it into shape. It still needs a little work, but it's getting there.

Ps. Happy memorial day to all those who have helped keep us all safe and free to do all the ridiculous things we like to do.

The kids host their first grown up BBQ party

This afternoon Randall and I headed to millbrae for a BBQ at sushi's house where Sam and chris were kind enough to provide a feast. There were a bunch of folks there and the crowd was divided between the sunny, but windy, backyard and the mutiple old school game platform equipped nerd dungeon. I parked myself near the snacks where I made friends with all the dogs. Sushi was, as always, territorial, but somehow I managed to make friends with scooby. As you can see, he liked me. He might have just wanted to lick the hamburger off my face, but you get the idea.

Afterwards we all fell asleep on the couches thanks to our full bellies, or maybe it was the copious amounts of drinkage. You know, it's hard to tell. Job well done kids! Job well done!

On a mission

This afternoon neon came to town for the slumberland records showcase. But before they had to go out we, along with new sf resident Alice, met up at dosa for some sweet delicious brunch. And by sweet I actually mean spicy. I had the habanero mango chutney Dosa and it was totally too much spice, but amazingly delicious.

Afterwards, we wandered the mission looking at cutiepie stores and tracking down coffee. It was a couple of hours of awesome fun.

Later, when we were rested back up, Randall and I headed down to the press club for ethan's birthday. The sugar team was out in full force and it was fun to see them outside of pink walls.

Overall super fun day, even if it did pour down rain for a while.

What was it my birthday or something?

No, it was not, but man it sort of felt like it. Here's why:

1 - I slept in
2 - I went shopping for fun by myself with no time constraints
3 - I bought four pairs of summerfun shoes
4 - I saw a man with three pet birds
5 - I had a weird but tasty spam egg cheese hong kong sandwich lunch with milk tea
6 - I got amazingly pampered and then intentionally beat up at cocoon (love that place!)
7 - sushi dinner delivered to my house
8 - a walk down the hill for a peanut butter cake date

Overall, a perfectly good day off.

A shot(well) in the dark

This afternoon Marisa asked me if I was interested in heading to shotwell at lunch. They're having a moving sale and all plants and housewares are on sale. I already went with Erin on Monday, but I didn't buy anything and all week I was wishing I'd got a plant for my desk. So I went along and picked out a cutie. He's in a short mason jar, and as Erin pointed out, if he dies, I can always bake a pie in it.

Marisa ended up with a really great haul, she got a sweet tin display, but the winner was really the watering can planter. Good find!

After work, I followed Erin down to the 8th floor where she and Lacey were getting ready for a gaga party. I'm not a fan, but I sort of wished I was mostly because I love a good excuse to put on funny costumes and extraordinary makeup.

Ready set draw

How I spent my evening. Video games and pig drawings. I know, life is rough.

Ps. We had hunger games nerd lunch today. Talk about awesome. Talk about nerdy.

Laura's magic, Before and after

I was past due for a haircut, and this afternoon I remedied the situation. It's funny, I'm actually growing it out, but needed to trim the scraggles off as it's been looking rather beastly. Plus, the bangs had grown way out monster-style and I never really feel like myself when the bangs are growing out. But now thanks to laura's genius I'm me again. Now if only I can make it look this sleek and shiny on my own.

And if new hair wasn't good enough, for dinner I nom'd me some ike's sandwiches. It was tasty, but something is different, the bread just didn't hold up. Ike's is your new fast oven not as good as your old slow one?

Pretend monster

This one is for Erin who is celebrating ladygagamas (like Christmas but for lady gaga fans). We hung out a bunch today (lunch, coffee, and a sweet ride home) and Erin tried to school me on lady gaga. I didn't really work, but i was inspired to play makeup artist. For the record, I don't have much of an opinion on gaga. I think her outfits and makeup are fun, but her music doesn't do anything for me. But then, did you expect it to? You know I'm too snobby for pop music.

Let's skyline with pie

This morning morm called and asked if I could help her with her computer. Unfortunately our home phone was dead and cellphone reception was crap. That's when morm suggested we "skyline." I knew exactly what she meant and so I hopped onto skype and off we went.

After playing tech support, I jumped onto the 24divis and met erin and Aki at the green chile kitchen. We scarfed up some very delicious foods and then jetted across the street for a piemaking class at WorkshopSF. It was more of a hands-on actual workshop than a class, but we had a great time. And at the end of the class we each had three mini strawberry pies to bake at home later. And now I just want to stay home and sew and bake mini pies. Adorable and delicious mini-pies.

With our bags full of pies, we decided our bellies should be too. So we headed over to green chili pies and ordered double delicious. They do an amazing concoction called pie shake and yes it is exactly what it sounds like. Pie and ice cream all blended up into a drinkable shake. And yes it is a piece of pie-fection. Did you really have to ask?
