The squid and the whale and the Taiwanese family that saw them

This morning the whole gang woke for a full day of NYC fun. When I first determined that we would all be meeting up in the city, I immediately decided that we should go to the natural history museum. The boys are 6 and 3, and we all know that boys that age love dinosaurs. There's no getting around it, it's a fact.

So this morning we got up and headed out towards the museum. I remembered that zabar's was that way, and thus we had a breakfast destination. With a belly full of bagels we headed to the museum to educate ourselves on the dinosaurs. But first, a playground, then the museum, and then central park and a playground with water. I'm pretty sure I have a mild sunburn due to my lack of sunscreen combined with that thing called the sun.

Afterwards we found ourselves looking for dinner and thanks to the interwebs (seriously how did we travel before smart phones?) we ended up at caffe buon gusto. It fit our bill perfectly. My cousin wanted pasta and I wanted a place that wasn't too fancy, could handle kids, didn't need reservations, but was still tasty and cute. I wanted outside (gotta enjoy it while i can), so we got a spot in a super cute (although awkward to get to) back garden. The food was pretty nice too. Some dishes were better than others, but overall it was perfect for us and I'm glad we stumbled into it.

Finally, we collected our luggage (little man demanded rolling it thru the street on his own) and headed to the train station. On our way there we came across a film crew. They weren't filming yet, but they were getting the scene all set up. I wasn't sure what it was, but then saw a sign stating MIB III. They're still filming that? Wasn't will smith's giant trailer causing all sorts of controversy months ago? Speaking of will smith, we didn't see him, but we saw his stunt double sitting on a trailer stoop. The door was open and his space was tiny like a Harry potter closet. My cousin, knowing that it was just a double, took her picture with him. I was sort of mad that I didn't hop into the photo because that would've a great daily photo.

Also, if you're wondering, this photo thing either runs in the family or we are typical Asians. My cousin had to have her photo taken in front of every monument, cool looking building, mundane scene, and intersection. Obviously, I joined her in many.

Ps. Yes I am trying to jack a bite of the snow cone. I bought it and was trying to collect my fee.

Pps. While I do love golden gate park, and while it is technically larger than central park and full of tons of random crap in the same way (buffalo anyone?), central has it beat. I mean a park you can get to relatively easily and (more importantly) isn't fogged over by 3pm would be amazing. I mean, i imagine most CP picnics don't get aborted halfway thru because it got too cold in august.
