in case you missed it, the interwebs is all a flutter over the new gap logo. i am one of the many who also think, gah! what were they thinking?! and i sit next the graphic designers at work, and they are also up in arms over it. today the conversation was about gap's new crowdsourcing plan, and whether or not this crappy logo was part of the plan all along. if it was, then kudos to gap, i assume there are more people checking out gap.com than normal. however, knowing the way large corporations work (i didn't always work at fun startups) i can't imagine this was intentional. besides, i bought these jeans a month ago, and looky here it's the new logo. if it was all just a big ploy to generate buzz, why would they have bothered to print them in the jeans? also now, in violation of (as elsa calls it) design law, they're going to have people create a new logo for free. sorry good graphic designers, that's all you're worth now.
ps. for the record, i never liked the old gap logo, but at least it was iconic and not terrible (see back pair of jeans for reference).
