every day's a new dumb adventure

Apr 25, 2009

saturdays are the new nerd fridays (youtube ukulele version)

today was one of those perfect sort of days. i woke up, baked a delicious chocolate date cake, and then headed to chuckles' house for a breakfast club meeting. he and his friends do this really great thing where they take turns hosting a breakfast brunch, and the host gets to invite their guests, so the old pals get to hang out each month along with a myriad of new faces. i love the idea, and i think i'm going to steal it. who wants to be in my breakfast club?

afterwards randall and i headed home (bellies full of delicious treats, mimosas, iced coffee and bloody marys i might add) where he digested his food by reading comics, and i plucked around on the bass. anneh and i are going to horribly cover some songs tomorrow, so this should be interesting.

once that food was nearly forgotten, we headed down to mission street foods to hang out with burger and jennylo. burger's going to hong kong for work in a bit (i was hoping to join her, but alas we are in a holding pattern), and jennylo is headed up to portland for law school, so it was nice to meet up again. the waiter there was totally flirting with burger. she's crazy (in a good way) and tends to bring this out in people.

when the pork belly had been cosumed (deliciousness btw, totally like a street david chiang concoction) we headed home, where we nerded out. the new game for the evening was youtube ukulele. go to youtube and search "bandname ukulele" and then be amazed by the results (my favorite is embedded below, you must watch) inspired, i pulled out the wee guitar and pretended to know chords. i had fun, and randall as you can sort of see in the background on the left, is happily tuning me out. this is nothing new.
