gobble gobble little b!

this evening bridget, karen, april, and i got together for a bit of dinner mayhem. if you don't count my wedding, it had been ages and ages since the four of us hung out together (we're college crew). we kept meaning to, but you know, just never got around to it. this time, we had to make it happen, you see bridget (aka little b, the one in the middle) is packing up and moving to turkey. that's right turkey. 17 hours away on the other side of the world. her beau is there already securing the apartment, and in two weeks she's off. i'm going to miss this gal, but i can't wait until she gets settled. it's time to see that part of the world!

ps. we met up for dosa dinner at 7:45pm, we left at 11. we probably could've talked for hours more. great to see you ladies!

Escaping from shutter island

This evening April, Randall and I went to the kabuki to see shutter
island. I wasn't necessarily into seeing shutter island, but it was at
the kabuki screen 1 balcony and that's pretty much the only theater I
care to go to anymore. I knew very little about the movie going into
it, and for the most part I enjoyed it (maybe a tad too long).

I won't spoil the movie for you, but i'll just say, it felt old
school. Very traditional scorsese. The music, the dialogue, and some
of the scenes, all just felt like an older movie. Or an homage to an
older film era. And the end, well i think I'd seen it before. Oh and
also, apparently the trailer/commercial (which I haven't really seen)
is making it look like a thriller. Don't be fooled, it's not. It's
suspenseful, but it's not a horror (although some lady did awkwardly
scream in our screening). Yet I thought scared would be a more fun
emotion to portray than intrigued, so here ya go.

The pains of being pure at heart (and mind)

Tonight April (seen in the shadows) treated me to a night at the
rickshaw stop. The pains of being pure at heart were playing and all
the hip kids (literally, some of these kids were so young) were at the
sold out show. Burger and Hugh and co were also there (Hugh is
labelmates with the pains), like I said, all the hip kids.

At one point I made burger and April pose outside in the rickshaw.
Sadly, that pole blocked April's face. Which I suppose is sort of
fitting because you see, April had a shitty night. At one point she
set her purse down and it made me uncomfortable (because I am crazy
paranoid and can never leave things unattended), so I told her to move
it over by me. She went to do it but alas it was gone! In her defense,
it was right next to us and I am still sort of flabbergasted on how it
all happened. Booooooo. I'm sads for April. That really sucks. It also
put a damper on the rest of the night (it happened right before the
pains) making it hard to have fun. Boo on you thieves, boo.

Ps. This pic is b&w because I was trying to find a photo app that
would make it look xeroxed-like to match the pains' coverart but
didn't get to finish my search thanks to jerkface thieves.

Pps. The pains sounded pretty good epic like, but were maybe too clean/
tight? I enjoyed it, but they didn't seem like they were having enough
fun. Hugh said he thought they were "airtight" -- I think he liked
them better before they were big.

Ppps. Apes, I hope your purse randomly turns up.thieves suck

Viva la France!

The loverly miss April and I are at the rickshaw for bardotagogo, the
bastilled day French disco dance party. It took a little effort to
leave the house on a nerd Friday, but it is worth it.

Now to bid you adieu and go cut up a rug, or hardwood floor as the
case may be.

ps. thanks dan!

flyin' high

this evening randall and i met up with april, dan (thanks for getting us in to the show!), and chuckles for a bit of the ol' live entertainment. while at the rickshaw stop, we also bumped into margaret and blake (i had a feeling they would be there -- okay maybe that was because i saw blake's comment on sonic living and so i was pretty sure they would be). i wasn't sure what i thought of the show, it was part of the sfpopfest, and it was a lot of fun. However i didn't love any particular band, the first guy (pelle carlberg) was pretty good, but we missed a good chunk of the set; the second band (oh no oh my) made me think of death cab (mostly because of their nasally voices) and while i did like some of the songs, i couldn't get past that ben gibbard problem and therefore couldn't enjoy it fully; the third band (still flyin' the one that juju said i had to go see as soon as i got a chance) was a lot of fun, but to be honest i didn't get it. i had a good time, but juju i think i'm with wes on this one. i don't understand how you enjoy it. how chuckles enjoyed it i see, but you, i don't see, please to explain?; and the fourth band well, we left before they went on. even though margaret convinced me to stay, she could not work her magic on my chauffeur (aka randall).

so margaret you are going to have to tell me how they were. and randall if it turns out that surburban kids with bibilical names is my new favorite band, i will be sad.

ps. i love randall's weird preppy look here. so funny to me.
