if the neon family is true

woke up ridiculously early today (try 5:45, hours before i usually begin stirring), but that was okay because we were meeting the neon family for breakfast and i would rather be awake for a few hours, than sleepytown groggy.

they were visiting from sacto. not a long journey, but sometimes it takes a big effort (lil' ira probably adds to that). we met up at the ferry building where we partook in a large meal from primavera (niki my regrets, i should've warned you that you'd be too full for the cheese afterwards!). once again, they were not serving fish tacos, but once again i was happy with my meal regardless.

after eating we wandered around the market and the shops. after a few hours ira wasn't having it anymore. he was so angry that he wanted to knock over the stroller (apparently he hates it) and wouldn't settle for not being able to do it. this kid is going to be trouble, he's a totally adorable lil' devil. mamas hide your daughters and tell your sons how to duck.

oh and today's weather was fantastic, in the afternoon burger and i drove around with the top down singing at the top of our lungs. total greats day. now off to food and maybe some dancing!

ps. i like to sing the words "neon family" to the arcade fire's "neon bible" obviously replacing the word family for bible.

On a top secret mission

Today dk wanted to know if I could escort her to the ferry buikding at lunch. She was on a mission to buy cute lil' sweets for miss katie sugz's birthday tea party.

After debating for too long on food choices, we finally made our way back, mission accomplished.

Ps. I was cool enough to join on the mission but not cool enough to be invited to the cute party. I see how it goes.

Pps. Sorry miette but those rose flower old lady perfume flavored meringues are terrible. That did not however, stop me from making everyone else try them.

Ppps. Tonight anneh and i are going to prove that two olds equals young. See you at bottom of the hill for jens!

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cities

today was randall's birthday -- i've been calling it his barkday -- and to celebrate, i took him across the bridge to sushi ran. we pigged out, at least we were going to. actually we were pretty good, i let birthday boy call the shots, if it had been me we'd have eaten at least one more roll. probably two.

for his birthday i decided to get randall a copy of piero ventura's book of cities. it's an old children's book from 1975, that they recently reprinted. i took one look at it and knew that randall would love it. okay actually i saw a tiny one inch thumbnail in a magazine and knew he would love it. he's into intricate little line drawings, and well we both have a thing for kid's books.

ps. yes, that card on the table is of a dog wearing a birthday hat and driving a car. that is more or less randall's idea of awesome. (when i asked whether or not that statement was true, randall said it would only be awesomer if the dog said he was moving in and also if he could make great lattes).

pps. juju and wes got randall a pretty amazing gift courtesy of the ivory weirdo.
