So much for detoxing...

This evening a gang (or maybe it is better defined as a gaggle) of us headed over to the bleacher report offices. It was a weird dual company mixer (as read about on techcrunch) that seemed awkward at first but turned out to be a lot of fun. The highlight being when we dominated them at flipcup. Best two of three and we won the last round with a fierceness. The other highlight came when I found out that Courtney was at UCSC the same time as me. Same college even. Porter for life.

Thanks for having us bleacher report dudes!

Ps. I stole this first pic from Sam brown's instagram. Great pic Sam!

Pps. That was the first time I played regular flipcup. Apparently I've only played alcoholic full cup flipcup before and was surprised to learn that regular flipcup isn't full cups. Anyone else with me on this?

There and back again

This morning dk and I met up in the hotel lobby and headed to the airport. We were both on the same flight home and arrived just in time for the 5 year sugar party. My oh my how we've grown.

In other news, it's great to be home.

Overwhelmed by the plot

This afternoon a gang of us (lizzy, reiko, and kellan) decided to go
to freshii, a new lunch spot. Angelica decided to join us, and we were
going to meet her in the lobby. You see our company is so big now,
we're actually on two floors. Only once we got to the lobby we went
into autopilot and walked out the front door. We got across the street
when I realized we lamely forgot Angelica. I ran back for her and then
we were off to freshii. When we got there Ian brown was on the radio,
and a gal in a fancy outfit greeted us. I have never been to a salad
bar place where there was a greeter before, but after a few minutes I
understood why. The menu is overwhelming you pick a base (salad, soup,
wrap or bowl), then the premium ingredients, then the basic
ingredients then the dressing. It was like filling out the SATs.
Seriously, Angelica and I didn't know where to begin and she actually
ended up doubling down on the tofu on accident. The salad itself was
pretty good but seriously they need to cut the lettuce. As kellan
said, it's like we were giraffes.

Later, after work, I met up with ms jessi where we schemed and plotted
over a couple of beers, some sushi, and a bottle of wine. We've only
got our outline situated, but I think we've got our plan!

We miss Miss Maria!

This afternoon I came out of a meeting and walked into a pleasant
surprise. Maria was visiting! Last time I saw her she was overpreggers
with twins! I thought back then that she glowed because she was
happily pregnant, but I guess that wasn't the case. Turns out it's her
personality that glows all the time. We miss you Maria! Thanks for
brightening our day!

Ps. Melissa never poses for photos.

what a difference four years makes

today the entire office loaded up on to buses and headed out to the presidio for a happy fourth birthday sugar inc party. we rented the log cabin up on the hill, and also a taco truck. naturally there was also jars full of candy, cookies, cupcakes, and signature cocktails. i haven't been here since the beginning, but i've been here long enough to see us learn through our ups and downs. it's been a load of fun, and i hope for another four!

ps. pals that couldn't make it out today, we knocked them back for you indeed. do not worry you were well toasted.

say tequila!

this evening the sugar marketing team begrudgingly dragged themselves away from their desks to head over to tres agave for a thank you fiesta. everyone has been working like dogs lately and the bossmen took us out to say thank you (well dk and kellan arranged, but they footed the bill). we started off with a margarita making class and then moved quickly to dinner. melissa and i went halfsies on the carnitas and carne asada, but i could barely eat it after all the guac, jicama, and deliciousness that we chowed down.

ps. based on expressions, i think kellan perfected the margarita, elsa maybe not so much

Mad props.

This afternoon Melissa and I made a fun run to daly city. We're doing
a booth at blogher this year, and not to giveaway any spoilers, but
we've got some awesome tricks up our sleeves. These tricks involve
both candy and funny props, and since there's not enough time in the
week, we made a prop/candy run on the weekend.

Originally it wasn't going to be an outing, but then I discovered that
my prop run was near her candy run and so we made a date out of it. DK
texted saying she'd join, but it was too late we were already in daly
city. So afterwards we met her for lunch at nopalito. Yum!

Ps. It's hard to see, but Melissa has on a fuzzy tiara and dk is
wearing Minnie mouse ears.

Press check!

This morning Elsa and I headed over to see Noel, our print guru. We
had an early(ish) press check (although the weather made it feel
earlier than it really was). It's been a long time since I've done a
press check (Internet media company and all) so that was kind of fun.
Besides I'll take any excuse to get nonfrazzled Elsa time!

Oh and how'd the check go? Fantastic! Can't wait to see the finalized
brochures!

Ps. Bonus points to Mitch for posting photos that should be kept in a
shoebox to facebook. Extra bonus points to Nicole for printing them
out at work.

Sayonara Nicole!

Today was nicole's last day, and so we sent her off in the only way we
know how: with food. Our gang rounded up and headed to seller's market
where we fought a lady for a table (Julie was about to throw down) and
split a cookie that never ended (it was like jesus bread). It was a
good outing and I realized we should do it more often, not just when
someone says farewell. I mean how else would we learn about piranhas
and freeway shootouts and more?

Nicole, we wish you the best of luck! Do keep in touch!
