every day's a new dumb adventure

I forgot what I was supposed to call it

This evening I headed over to anneh's house for the Wednesday top
model routine. She makes food, I gobble it up, and both of laugh at
tyra. She does it for work and I figure it's a pretty good way to
celebrate the middle of the week.

Usually I try to use the show for inspiration. I figure there's got to
be a ridiuclous outfit, hairdo, makeup, or expression that I can mimic
for your viewing pleasure. However tonight -- while thoroughly
entertaining -- wasn't very inspirational. The girls all had huge
messy hair, and let's face it, I can already do huge messy hair, so
what's the point.

Not knowing what else to do, I quickly snapped this pictograph.
Lawrence once asked me how many outtakes I do each day. Sometimes,
especially if there's makeup or a costume involved, there's many.
Other times there's just a few. Today there was just this one.

evoke carmen miranda, but model

wednesdays are the new awesome. anneh has to watch top model for work, and to reward her i try and reenact at least one scene. tonight the model wannabes found themselves tackily parading around the favelas of rio dressed as mediocre carmen mirandas (for those of you who don't know favelas are like the slums, wikipedia calls them "shanty towns"). they had to look (fill in the blank here i forget, if you draw a blank just go for "fierce"), but model. you know "pet the cat, but model" or "be angry, but model" - but make sure you're modeling (the verb) and not just being a model (the noun), it's important.

what's also important is having the ability to balance fruit on your head. today i was able to do just that thanks to my wonderful art directors and handlers (aka scott and meg). they made sure my hair and makeup was just right, for modeling (the verb). and yes, this is all real fruit. and yes it is balanced, not propped. what can i say, i am just that fierce.

ps. fruit is from the earth, so this is a good earth day costume, right?

pps. anneh i want the butternut squash enchilada recipe. it was deliciouses.

ppps. we did a taste test, sorry humphry, bi-rite's salted caramel trumps your balsamic. don't worry i'll still love you.
