Young phil becomes evil phil

Or maybe it's just 1977 Texas phil? I wish he had worn a giant belt buckle and some plaid.

And since we're hanging out in the office, let me tell you about the building. Our building is a U shape and you can see Ginnifer's office from the developer pen. Late in the afternoon (or maybe early evening), I heard someone calling my name. At first I thought it was coming from outside and i was really confused. That's when I saw ginnifer and Anna waving from the other side. Why hello ladies!

Ps. I was going to take a pic of me with a penciled in philstache, but morm called and we schemed for a bit and I got distracted and then I forgot and now I'm lazy. Gnight!

4 years and 12 desks later

today was my four year sugar-versary. i can't believe it's been four years. for the record, this is the longest i've ever worked anywhere. it's sort of mind-boggling when i think about it. it doesn't feel like four years and it's sort of wild to think i've been here this long. what's also wild is the number of desks i've sat at in that period of time. today i moved again (back in the nerd pen), i honestly believe this is the 10th spot in this office alone, add the other two offices and that's a dozen seats in four years. that amount of moving around is kind of ridiculous.

you know what else is ridiculous? little v! yesterday was her birthday and she didn't tell a soul. so naturally we had to make up for it today with cupcakes. happy birthday little v! you won't be so sneaky next year!

hitting up the tattoo parlor

this afternoon dk went and got a couple of tats, i thought they looked fun and wanted to do the same. however, it was work hours, and where on earth was i going to find a tattoo parlor around here. if only there was a roaming tattoo parlor... well, lucky for me there is. lil' miss katie was visiting the office, and she brought all of her tattoo supplies with her. there were nine pages to choose from, and originally katie was going to give me an huge grouping of flowers and camouflaged hearts. however, i wasn't so sure i could commit to such a huge tattoo, so in the end i settled for a sweet rock star bracelet instead. melissa got a sweet butterfly bracelet, but mine. mine is rock star.

A quick note on froyo and gender

This afternoon Brian, Andy, Sean, and I made a quick excursion to the
new frozen yogurt place across the street. Sadly, I stupidly forgot to
take a picture of our outing. The outing cracked me up for a couple of
reasons, the first being that in an office that is 75% female, the
only folks who wanted to go were dudes. The second being that the word
froyo was used so many times. I don't know why but that word cracks me
up. I understand that it's just an abbreviation, but it's sounds so
ridiculous.

Now, the question I ask you is this. Is froyo for everyone or is it a
"ladies" treat? Personally, I say it's for all. Sure it's tasty, but
there's no reason for us to bogart it. Especially not at the new
place, it's serve yourself and you pay by the ounce, toppings included.

So let's get some froyo yo!

shamrock and roll!

this morning my inbox taunted me with the idea of minty green shamrock shakes, but like the responsible adult that i always am, i decided not to give in to the urge. that is until danny sent out an email saying that there would be a shamrock shake expedition at noon on the dot. now noon is generally too early for lunch (being that i usually eat breakfat around 10am), but i sort of couldn't say no. i mean, it was the holiday thing to do, right?

happy st. pat's! may your day be full of stouty irish beers and shamrock shakes! preferably not together, but do whatever ice cream floats your boat.

saying bye bye to a geek

this is dhatt (aka a geek) and today's his last day in the office. for me it particularly feels like the end of some sort of era. mostly because dhatt was one of the reasons i was hired. he interviewed me back in the day and we had the best conversation about food and science known to man.

i'm sad to see him go, but am excited to learn what he has up his sleeve. and mostly i'm bummed that we didn't know it was his last day (no one ever said the official farewell date). if we had known we'd have had a pinata with the most amazing candy ever. because that's what i think of when i think of dhatt. amazing. and candy. of course the candy.

best of luck a geek, best of luck!

letting my face breathe (why am i still at work?)

lately i've been breaking out like crazy. maybe it's the greasy pork chops or the fact that i now cook all vegetables in my new favorite habenero olive oil (lots of it). either way my face needed a breather. so today i didn't wear any makeup. this was fine for the first few fresh faced hours, but now that it's past 7 and i'm oddly still in the office, it's not looking so good. i squished my eyes up so you couldn't tell. but that's where all the madness is, look closely and you can see those hidden pandas and blemishes hidden in creases. also, while i'm vainly talking about my face, when did it get so goddamned wide? and how do i make it stop? how do i weigh exactly the same as i did 3 years ago but my face seems 5 times as round?

okay, going to pull my hair out if i don't leave here. nite.

Andy joins the weird fruit club

This is AndyR and he's a smiling new member of my "weird" fruit club.
We might be the only members, but that's besides the point.

Today the weird fruit is a cherimoya. I forget the family of fruit it
belongs to, except I'm sure it's part of the delicious family. It's
creamy on the inside and is white in color with large black seeds. I
like them mostly because they look like illustrated versions of
artichokes. Particularly if sbritt were to draw them.
