nothing comes between me and my sugar (cane that is)

today's farmer's market was bustling. now that spring is here, there are loads of different kinds of fruits and vegetables, including long stalks of sugar cane. my mom is from taiwan and whenever we would visit we would eat sugar cane from street vendors. it is hands down one of my favorite things in the whole world. so naturally, when i saw one, i had to grab it. i also then carried it all over the muni, the library, the bart, and the mission. i imagine i looked totally awesome and absolutely hardcore, or totally ridiculous.

ps. i love the library and the online request system. ex machina 3, 4, and 5 are mine to devour!

pps. scottel didn't leave, he's on the extended stay plan. that's okay with me. we made such beef in his honor.

ppps. i had a dentist appointment today, do you think he'll be thrilled to hear that i left his office to go gnaw on some sweet wood?

i've made a huge mistake

a while ago, i abandoned a tried and true love for something shiny and new. and like most affairs, the shiny new thing wasn't as good as i thought it would be. sure it was fun for a while, and there were lots of laughs and late nights, but once we settled down together, i realized that we really didn't have much in common, and that we were hanging together mostly out of obligation. i mean sure, things weren't always great with the first love, and there were definitely low points, but i'm starting to wonder what caused me to throw it all out in the first place. was it really worse than mr. shiny new?

man i've made a huge mistake.

ps. this has nothing to do with randall and i. that part i got completely right.

Might as Well Jump (for Joy)

I am a lucky duck. The house i live in - right in the heart of San Francisco - has a backyard. And bonus, it's all mine. (Technically I share it with randall too, but he hardly uses anything besides bbq corner, so he barely counts).

And I know i've been whining about daylight savings time and how tired i've been, but at the end of the day, coming home to this in the daylight is fantastic.

today was the first day i've been in the backyard in months (it's either been rainy or we haven't been home on the weekends). it needs a little love to get ready for san francisco spring, but chores can wait til later. for now i'm just gonna soak up the greenery and fresh air.

proof that the weather in sf is so ridic

i have a tiny ill-managed garden in my backyard. this past summer i managed to grow some herbs, strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers. everything grew and i harvested throughout the summer, ending in early september. at this point -- because my garden is ill-managed -- i just left the plants there in various stages of "dead." the cucumber plant was particularly brown and sad looking.

so imagine my surprise when a month ago, some new little guys started growing. in fact these look even more delicious than the last few of the summer. how is it that i harvested cucumbers in early november? oh san francisco, your wacky weather never ceases to amaze me.
