i have a hard time sitting around. don't get me wrong, i am really lazy, and i like doing "nothing." thing is, i always feel really guilty about it. so instead of just sitting around enjoying a movie or tv show, i feel the need to do something else. multitasking if you will. it's the main reason i picked up knitting. normally i'm pretty content to do that, but i'm in the middle of a big project that doesn't really much to the imagination (so much that i actually set it aside for about a year). so instead of knitting, i've started sewing again. only the problem is, a sewing machine is quite loud and doesn't really work as "something to do while sitting around like a lazy log." which brings me to my latest project, this necklace.
i'd seen a few things like it at anthro, urban, and etsy, and thought i could do something similar. and after i found this tutorial i had no excuses. after all, all i needed was a t-shirt and scissors, plus a needle and thread (but that was only for the rosettes). i'm pretty thrilled by it, and it came out even better than i thought it would. plus, look, so versatile! now i need some more free t-shirts so i can make more. not sure why i need more than one, but i'm kind of hooked on making these. plus they're easy peasy to put together (in theory it should take 20 minutes, in practice this one took over an hour).
sidenote: anyone else watching treme? thoughts? i'm 4 episodes in and am not sure yet. i'm liking all of the characters and their stories, but i sort of keep wondering what's going to happen.
i woke up early this morning, and before meeting anneh and jen for brunch at boogaloos, i marched on down to the hardware store to pick up a few supplies. for nearly a year i've been wanting to make an earring screen, inspired by
