A bunch of random circumstance put a gang of us sugar folks at metropol tonight. Looks like that place is the official home of the sugar happy hour.
The tasty birthday box
Today is randall's birthday and to celebrate I made surprise reservations at benu. The meal was delicious (we did the tasting and beverage pairing - thanks to Arthur for the drink recommendation), and while it was completely opposite of the French laundry meal (cooked by the same man and sort of hard to compare), i think I liked benu more. Every detail was just perfect. I particularly loved the magic birthday box. Instead of making a big birthday ordeal, they presented Randall with a music box. When you turned the crank it tinkered happy birthday. It was also lit with a bunch of blue LEDs and then the lid came off and a surprise cake was presented! Super low key and perfect. Just like the meal!

Enjoying the peauty while we can
In San Francisco, when it's nice out, you take advantage. And so tonight, a gang of us headed to murphys to take advantage.

Pps. After happy hour kellan, Andy, and I met Randall at off the grid. It was crowded and sort of not worth it. Remind me to only go there on crappy days.

i heart hearts + horses and technology
originally we thought about heading out to sacramento to see hearts + horses (aka park avenue aka wes + juju), but the show was at 8, and after a long drive yesterday we had to poop out. fortunately, juju treated us to a phone call and (static crappy phone connection line aside) it was like we were there. it was so lovely, we put it on speakerphone and hung around just listening.
while the beautiful sounds were seranading us, i went from room to room looking for a horse figurine, but couldn't find one (for the record there are birds, hippos, dogs, cows, pigs, bears, deers, owls, elephants, and more birds but no horses). when i turned came up empty, i decided to just draw a horse. this is what happened instead.
ps. i really do heart these kids and wish they lived next door.
