Pretend monster

This one is for Erin who is celebrating ladygagamas (like Christmas but for lady gaga fans). We hung out a bunch today (lunch, coffee, and a sweet ride home) and Erin tried to school me on lady gaga. I didn't really work, but i was inspired to play makeup artist. For the record, I don't have much of an opinion on gaga. I think her outfits and makeup are fun, but her music doesn't do anything for me. But then, did you expect it to? You know I'm too snobby for pop music.

Life is delicious

This morning miss anneh came back from her excursion to Iceland and
surprised me with a delicious kleinur. It's been six years since I
last had one and it was a super awesome treat. Anneh also brought me
back the weirdest chocolate bar topped with a strip of licorice. So
strange and yet so wonderful. I need to get back to the island.

After work, Erin and I headed out to off the grid. It was bananas
there. I have never seen it that busy before and a bunch of the trucks
were running out of food. Erin and I were really craving the bao truck
pork belly bun and decided to wait in line. Unfortunately when we were
about three people back, they announced they were out of pork belly.
We were sad and defeated, but had waited so long in line, we just went
with it. Then, miraculously, right as our orders (duck and tofu) were
coming up, they said they had a few more pork belly orders. I tried to
get our order swapped, but it was too late. Surprisingly though, the
awesome bao truck folks hooked us up and we were able to do the pork
belly dance! Life is indeed delicious.iceland

We consider this puzzle solved

This afternoon erin, julie, chris, Kristy, Kristen, and I headed down
to union square for some professor Layton fun. There were red british
telephone booths and a couple of actors dressed up as game characters.
I was really hoping to see the professor, but the gal playing flora
told us he was on his lunch break. Randall said he wasn't there this
morning either so I smell a puzzle that's unsolved.

Speaking of puzzles, they had a booth for the girls and one for the
boys and are pitting the sexes against each other to see who can solve
puzzles better. I don't know which will prevail, but I do know that I
will win! I heart puzzles and can't wait for the third nerd
installment of the professor!

Say cheese Chicago!

Today anneh and I hung out with the Betty and then afterwards I had
them drop me off at tuttle and erin's house. While their neighborhood
is not the worlds greatest, their place is amazing. We hopped on our
bikes (like good portlanders they had an extra), went thrift store
shopping and then went to Simone's for dinner and some drinks.

After a few rousing hands of uno (seriously it took a few rounds of
shuffling), we headed back to their house where we hung out on the
porch and then headed down to rainbo where anneh and her crew were
hanging out. They had a photo booth there so we definitely goofed about.

Say cheese Chicago!

things get a little surreal (is there pork in my hair?)

This picture is from last night, but since i didn't go to sleep, it was actually from today (besides it was taken in the wee hours of the morning, so it technically counts as a new day).

And yes, i said i didn't go to sleep. I can't remember the last time i pulled a party allnighter. I didn't mean to, it just happened that way. Events just kept getting a little more ridiculous, and the next thing i knew, it was time to pack and go to the airport.

So what is going on here? This is Carlos, he's a musician from Cuba, and he and his friends roasted a whole pig behind their bar. We stumbled upon it, and i guess he could tell that erin and i were porkfat fiends because the next thing i knew, we had pulled pork pieces all over everything. He made sure to feed us the best bits (between the ribs, and the bit below the skin). It was a delicious garlic/onion porky flavor, and while i didn't get to eat any "must eat" Chicago foodie things, i think it was a perfect foodie adventure.

Oh and if you click on the bonus photo to the right, you can see just how porky everything was. OINK OINK. dude, there was pork in my hair.

Learning from losing (damn that bird)

Today is karen's hen party (that's her in the middle) and to celebrate, a gaggle of us headed over to golden gate fields to bet on some ponies (note: I do not recommend betting based on which one is prettier, as that apparently doesn't mean they're winners, don't trust the ones that bat their eyes eithers).

Since it also happened to be kentucky derby day, the track was having a hat contest. Our hats, as mighty as they were, did not even come close. The preliminary judges had some questionable choices. I mean they did not pick mine and it had a chirping bird on it. Seriously, a motion activated bird.

Speaking of birds, can we talk about mind that bird for a second (that's today's derby winner for those of you that don't know)? I found out we were leaving after the derby so I took my leftover money and decided to bet on a bad odds horse. Mind that bird had caught my eye earlier and I since I had a bird on my head, I figured it was perfect. But then I was influenced by the bachelorette party bad penis straw jokes and opted for the horse that ended in private, because you know privates and all. Gwah. I should've gone with my gut. What a lame call. Let's just say that while it was only a small nick to my pocketbook, it was a big loss.

Ps. Somehow I managed to stay sober so far.

Pps. Next stop little star, followed by something with belgian beers, and then a night of dancing for annie's birthday

Ppps. We are chasing all the old people away with our horrible conversations
