every day's a new dumb adventure

whatever garfield (aka this one is for phil)

This afternoon I twittered that today was going to cause a permanent frow to occur on my brow. It's not that today was bad, it's that it was full of many puzzles, some that caught me off guard, some that made me angry, and all of which caused me to make that face.

All day long, whenever I would stop to think about what I was working on, I would find my face in that awkward unappealing position. Nary a smile was to be found. And not to sound like a 31 year old culturally irrelevant cat, but man i fucking hate mondays.

true love means finishing something you are so not interested in at all

about 4 decembers ago, i started making a scarf for randall for christmas. i'm generally a pretty quick knitter and thought i'd have it done in no time. the thing is, i didn't anticipate how much i would hate knitting it. it's a 1x1 rib stitch with a thin mohair yarn that gets all over the place (translation to those of you who don't speak knit - it's annoying and tedious to make and is only going to shed all over everything). and i just don't know why, but i hate making it. i got about halfway through it that first december, couldn't take it anymore and put it away. randall got something storebought for christmas that year.

fast-forward to the next december, i figure it's half way done and that i might as well finish it. i pull it out of its box, do another 25% , get bored and knit a bunch of other things instead.

fast-forward to the december after that (this would be last year), i finish all but the last 2 inches, complain about how much i hate it, get ridiculously bored of it and even though it was almost done, i put it away.

fast-forward to yesterday, i told randall that it was chilly outside and that he might want to grab a scarf. he says to me, too bad i don't have the one you never finished.

guess what he's getting for christmas this year?
