With two fails under our belt, we trooped on to la torta gorda. At this point we'd gone 6 blocks in one direction and about 10 in another. Luckily we were able to stop there and eat some delicious tortas. Karen had the veggie and I had the chicken tinga. It was super delicious, one of my faves in the city.
Afterwards we wandered back thru the mission (with stops at arkay workshop, arzemendi bakery, and paxton gate). We also fought the wind. It was perfectly sunny, although it rained on us briefly, but man was it windy.

this evening bridget, karen, april, and i got together for a bit of dinner mayhem. if you don't count my wedding, it had been ages and ages since the four of us hung out together (we're college crew). we kept meaning to, but you know, just never got around to it. this time, we had to make it happen, you see bridget (aka little b, the one in the middle) is packing up and moving to turkey. that's right turkey. 17 hours away on the other side of the world. her beau is there already securing the apartment, and in two weeks she's off. i'm going to miss this gal, but i can't wait until she gets settled. it's time to see that part of the world!
