1000 pop star date

A few weeks ago, we put out a company wide challenge to help name our game currency. Kellan ended up being the winner with "pop stars", but then she heard I had actually suggested it first, but was ineligible to win. So she decided to be super nice and take me to dinner with her winnings. We ended up deciding to go bigger than the prize and got us a table at quince. Kellan had the lobster gnocchi, and guinea hen. I had the farm egg and the loup de mer. I liked the egg a lot, but thought the fish was a little on the salty side. The bread rolls, brioche, and wine were delicious, as was the dessert: budino. It was so delicious and the texture was unexpected. I may have licked the plate with my mind.

Thanks for sharing your winnings kellan! I had a great date! Let's do it again! How can we win us more money?!

Ps. We didn't actually have the romanty corner table, we were next to that one.

Afternoon yogurt with the gals

Today was a work day. As in we worked all day and thru the evening too. It was also a long day, but thankfully it went by quickly. At around four kellan and Victoria were off to find a snack, and I decided to join them. We ended up across the street at cafe ambrosia for some yogurt. Kellan turned hers into a shake and so I did the same. Oreo mint for me!

The end.

Ps. I am usually pretty good at this, but can't for the life of me remember what either of those gals wore today so I made it up.

For the birds

This afternoon kellan and I ended up grabbing lunch. It was so nice out, but much to kellan's chagrin there were lots of birds hanging around. Not to spill her secrets, but let's just say someone's not going to be on I'm a huge fan: birds. To keep lunch comfortable, every time a bird approached I'd chase it off. Shoo birds shoo!

Meanwhile, in case you didn't know, tonight is Chinese new year's eve. You're supposed to family feast, but life is complicated and we'll be doing that this weekend. However Randall and I did manage to get one of the things right. We had a fish feast at woodhouse on market. The chef's special was an amazing whole roasted fish with fennel, blood orange, olives, and lemon. It was so delicious. I could've eaten every last bone, but we did the superstitious thing and left some morsels behind. Not many, but enough to ensure a plentiful year.

Happy new year!

What do cool kids do after work on a Friday night?

They pick up dry cleaning, obviously. It's the totally hip thing to do. Forgo happy hour and hang with the clean clothes.

To her credit, kellan was just making a errand run before a night out. Me, i'm nerd fridaying it with Randall. We ate pizza and drank wine. I fell asleep for a few hours, but I'm awake now. I'm 15% thru the third hunger games book and wouldn't be surprised if I finish tonight. (that's right, I started Tuesday and already devoured book 1 & 2. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I'd wholeheartedly recommend the series.)

Oh frango!

A few years ago anneh's mom introduced me to the magic of frango. All of you in the Midwest or Seattle or any other Marshall field's turned Macy's area know that they are delicious chocolates. The rest of you will just have to take my word for it.

At thanksgiving, when anneh's mom visited, she actually brought me a box of dark chocolate frango. I shared them with the gang, and kellan was surprised I knew about them. I told her that I loved the mint chocolate ones and she said she'd bring me some back when she went to Chicago.

Fast-forward a month, I had completely forgotten about the frango promise but kellan surprised me with a wee box. They were delicious, but I made myself share. I'm sure I would've eaten the entire box. Mint chocolate frangos are just too nomilicious.

Thanks kellan! It was such a fun surprise treat!

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

well at least in one corner of the office. kellan thought it would be fun if we all brought in holiday decorations, and before i moved desks i offered up a static cling gingerbread house. we never hung them, so when i stopped by to say hello we decided to take a break and decorate. if you look closely, you'll see we accidentally hung the house upside down the first time. good thing it's static cling.

in other news the games team did a group lunch to welcome our new team members. apollo tried to take an overhead pic of us all in the elevator, but he had an iphone photo fail. gwah gwah! obviously we'll all just have to cram in the elevator and try again.

Kellan and I say good night office

Another late night, this time it was kellan and I hanging in the
office after dark. In fact I was there so late, the lights turned off.
Okay, so I don't think the light timers abide by daylight savings time
(meaning it wasn't that late), but you get the point.

After work, I had a super awesome muni ride (only 10 minutes of
waiting around for problems to clear), and then met Randall at the new
little chihuahua on 24th. I'm happy to report that the food there is
as tasty as the one on divis, but that there's a bit more space to
enjoy it all.

Welcome kellan! (and happy bday morm & gma!)

Meet Kellan, she's the newest member of our marketing team. This is
her first week and to welcome her, dk arranged a happy hour outing. I
almost missed it (I worked late, it was a zoo today), but caught the
gang just as they were leaving metropol and heading to the irish bank.
I was on accidental cake diet today, so naturally, I washed it all
down with a bloody mary, because you know, that's totally reasonable.

Welcome aboard kellan!

Ps. Happy birthday to both morm and gma! It's wild, their birthdays
are on the same day.

Pps. Exhausted.

Ppps. The 2 d pic is dk and the infamous eisenberg gals!
