A serendipitous garden adventure with foxes

This afternoon Lauren and I needed to take an Argh! break from the
office. Nothing in particular, it just happens sometimes. The other
day I'd read about a vertical garden exhibit at some architecture
organization nearby. We made a date to see it tomorrow, but decided to
go today. When we left the building both of us immediately started
walking down the street. We made it 5 blocks and arrived at 550
sutter. Neither of us said the address, we both just headed there.
However, when we arrived, we realized it was actually the museum of
craft and design and not the architecture place. there was a jewelry
exhibit going ons, so we checked it out and then wondered how we ended
up there. Both of us clearly had the wrong address, you see the
exhibit we really wanted to look at was directly across the street
from our office at 130 sutter. So yah, we both randomly took each
other to a gallery we'd both never heard of before.

But, it was sort of a happy accident in that we got to go to two
galleries in 20 minutes. And we got to see cool jewelry (knits and
chains together!) and awesome vertical/rooftop garden photos and an
indoor garden wall. It was argh! time well spent.

Ps If you don't believe we're indoors, just check the reflections in
our glasses.

Pps. I'm currently at the fox theater in Oakland waiting for atoms for
peace (Thom yorke). I've never seen a show here before, and man it's
gorgeous inside. Let's hope the sound is the same.

shamrock and roll!

this morning my inbox taunted me with the idea of minty green shamrock shakes, but like the responsible adult that i always am, i decided not to give in to the urge. that is until danny sent out an email saying that there would be a shamrock shake expedition at noon on the dot. now noon is generally too early for lunch (being that i usually eat breakfat around 10am), but i sort of couldn't say no. i mean, it was the holiday thing to do, right?

happy st. pat's! may your day be full of stouty irish beers and shamrock shakes! preferably not together, but do whatever ice cream floats your boat.

saying bye bye to a geek

this is dhatt (aka a geek) and today's his last day in the office. for me it particularly feels like the end of some sort of era. mostly because dhatt was one of the reasons i was hired. he interviewed me back in the day and we had the best conversation about food and science known to man.

i'm sad to see him go, but am excited to learn what he has up his sleeve. and mostly i'm bummed that we didn't know it was his last day (no one ever said the official farewell date). if we had known we'd have had a pinata with the most amazing candy ever. because that's what i think of when i think of dhatt. amazing. and candy. of course the candy.

best of luck a geek, best of luck!

buttons are pushed, data is moving, people are stressing, and we're all still here. it's time to start smoke testing.
