every day's a new dumb adventure

Dec 6, 2008

an oldie but a goodie

i sometimes forget that adventures can be found in our own town and that fun can be had without leaving the 7-square miles that is san francisco.

today i met up with molly, becky, allison, lydia (and special appearance by kete) for a cookie stroll through north beach. the merchants there put together a cookie crawl so that you go there and get to see the shops. i don't know how some of them stay in business, and how is it that the highlight of the cookie crawl was cake? granted it was damn-delicious cake peppermint chocolate cranberry cake, but still it was cake.

after the cookies and some drinks, randall and i stopped by the house of nanking (aka HONK) for a bite to eat. we were early, so there was no need for their velvet rope. we've been going for over 10 years now, and the atmosphere is completely different now than it was before. recently it's gotten a facelift inside, and it's lost some of its weird fob charm. however it's always consistently delicious, so you can't really fault them for trying to make it better.

well if you excuse me, i must be going now. it's time to meet the appelgren baby, and then head off to britpop dancing and karaoke with Burger.

funny, i don't recall being drunk

today was a rather long day. it didn't help that it followed a night of delicious soup and too many glasses of wine. especially considering the fact that several glasses were from a rather large $1 bottle my mom gave me. (yes, my mom gave me a giant $1 bottle of wine. she bought an entire case at the dollar store and wanted to know if it was "okay to give away to other people." for the record I'd have to say "um, only if you're positive they're going to regift it anyways.")

this afternoon I sent randall a link to this video of a mini-horse running around like lightning. he was shocked as he apparently showed it to me last night, and I insisted it was a dog. I have no memory of this. way to go $1 wine.
