so this earth hour thing is sort of a neat concept. however i have to agree with lydia, it is also a bit ridiculous. why not ask people to turn out all the lights instead of non-essential ones? however, i decided to play along and kept my lights all off. besides, it seemed like a good excuse to turn off the tv. and after a day of cleaning the house, i was keen on relaxing in the dark.
skeptical randall -- who is from the future where there is never darkness -- pointed out that burning candles (the normal kind made with paraffin wax) are worse than leaving a cfl bulb on. i immediately snubbed his attempt to leave the tv on by pointing out that i only have fancy soy candles, and besides the street lights weren't going out, and the one right outside our window would give us enough light. i mean, this photo was taken in the "dark" so that should give you an idea of how bright it is.
ps. i wonder how much money san francisco saves by turning the lights on the golden gate bridge off for an hour. becuase if it's a decent amount, wouldn't it seem like an hour a week would be worth it?
pps. i wonder how many hipster babies will be born 9 months from today.

when i put it on this morning, i immediately knew that today's pic would have to reference it in some way. so when i got home from work, i made myself some wings -- although perhaps these are wing prototypes, they're not that great, and if i had more time i'd have found out a way to cover them in feathers -- and snap snap snap. here it is.
