it's been a long day, we had a little hiccup here at work (sorry if you received a kajillion onsugar emails), and now i'm tired of looking at the computer screen. so guess what? i'm phoning it in. i succumbed to that obnoxious/strangely fascinating facebook 25 meme and now i'm copying amy and am reposting it here. feel free to post your own. honestly, i strangely love reading them all.
1 - i was boycotting this 25 random things meme, but have failed. besides, if i don't hurry there won't be any folks left to tag.
2 - my karaoke jam is Just a Gigolo, louis prima style, complete with scatting section.
3 - i love traveling and am collecting countries like they are pokemon. 17 and counting.
4 - i am not, despite popular belief, a native californian, and spent the first year of my life in montana.
5 - i was named after kate jackson's character in charlie's angels.
6 - i can't fall asleep if the bottom sheet isn't smooth - i call it the princess and the pea syndrome.
7 - i hate washing my hair.
8 - i was internet famous once, but didn't bother harnessing the power of the tubes. yes, that is regret you hear in my voice.
9 - i am horrible at keeping in touch and love the friends who are understanding of this. i think a good friendship is one where it feels like no time has passed, even if you haven't spoken in several days, months or years.
10 - my favorite fruit is pineapple. it would be white guava, but that's too hard to come by.
11 - i love baking and can make a mean cupcake (pear champagne anyone?).
12 - i love kids, but do not want my own and really wish people would stop asking me when i'm having them.
13 - i enjoy public train-transportation, but dislike public-bus transportation.
14 - to entertain myself on my muni rides, i make up stories about my fellow riders. lately, i've been pretending they are different animals.
15 - i have a half sister i have never met.
16 - i hate emoticons, and die a little inside each time i accidentally use one :)
17 - i conned my jr. high band teacher into teaching me how to print photos and have been an avid photo nerd since. i've never pursued it as a career, but was thrilled when NME published me.
18 - speaking of NME, i am not an anglophile, but went through a brit-pop phase (not sure it's over), enjoy british comedies, and once lived in cambridge.
19 - i don't really believe in organized religion, but honestly enjoy going to temple with my mom. i feel pretty guilty that i didn't go this new year.
20 - when flying on large planes (the kind with a middle section of seats) i must sit on the right hand side. i'm convinced it will crash if i don't.
21 - i am not easily embarrassed, however my behavior at my 10-year hs reunion haunts me. i have never been that drunk in my entire life - including my ridiculously cliched 21st birthday. sorry if i said something horribly inappropriate to you or your future/former spouse/sig. other.
22 - i have a really terrible memory and often forget things i'd like to remember. unfortunately (see #21) i often remember the things i'd like to forget.
23 - i love entertaining and always have drinks and snacks on hand. after all, you never know when someone might stop by.
24 - my favorite sound is of an orchestra tuning to A and then the quiet that happens before the conductor walks on stage. in the right venue, it gives me goosebumps.
25 - i can't begin to explain how thankful i am for the hand i've been dealt.
okay, this is ridiculous i know, but i have set a pretty strict "self-portrait" policy here at the daily sabs. the rules are (1) i have to be the one to push the button (remotes and timers are okay - i just have to push the button) and, (2)... actually that's it. i have to push the button. consider me a control freak.
anyways, so this morning katie was handing out her "pets" for some babysitting. i was lucky enough to get to hang out with a whale. i let katie have my kitty (a gift from Anna the super intern) as a trade. we were hanging out when anissa volunteered to take our photo. that's lucky for me, because the one i tried to take of us was waaay too blurry to use. when i asked katie what the whale was named, she said "whale -- he has a hat tho." talk about cutes.
ps. i'm exhausted. i couldn't sleep last night and got less than 4 hours of sleep. that's why i'm lounging around in my sweet old lady bird sweater, and phoning this post in.
