Who does she think she is?

This afternoon morm and bifi aiyi came to town. Randall and I have a feeling about a house (I know, I also thought we stopped looking, but here we go again) and we wanted morm to have a look. I'm going to leave the house talk at that though, don't want to hype it or jinx it or make it more than what it's supposed to be.

After the house, we headed back to the house where morm whipped us up a feast. I told morm about cindy's potsticker shower and she was more than a little inspired. Samshrew and chris stopped by too and morm put them all to work. She had us all making potstickers while she made pork belly Taiwan style. She also used two knives at once. Chop chop!

Before she left, samshrew had morm try on my glasses. The peanut gallery says they look better on her than me. Gwah gwah.

Lemongrass, cheesecake, and treasure hunts

Morm's house holds a lot of hidden treasures. Some of them, like the
seemingly overgrown grass which is actually lemongrass stalks, are
right under your noses. While others, the usual suspects like jewelry,
are squirreled away in the weirdest places.

This evening samshrew, morm, and I went on a hunt. I ended up with a
few nice things and a huge mountain of lemongrass. Afterwards we
helped morm eat a cheesecake even though she's not supposed to.
Somedays just end better that way.

Next time, we hire professionals

My parents live a ridiculous lifestyle with two houses in the same greater area. One bad economy later they are consolidating to one. Naturally this means we (their children and their children's unfortunate significant others) had to move all their furniture from one place to another.

We've been at it since 11am (leaving our house at 9am) and finally finished the last load for the day.

I was hoping to snap a pic of all us exhausted on the couch, but we're too tired to find the couch. Instead I snapped this pic of randall, sushi (who is along for the ride), and myself while everyone else was busy assembling shelves.

ps. these are the curtains i had as a child and i hated them then and i hate them even more now.

happy morm's day from the pig family

hanging out with morm for mother's day, and since her yard is quite nice right now, she is not forcing anyone to hammertime (her word for "go work on my backyard"). because of that, we are doing her second favorite activity: cooking and eating. i love the cooking, but i have to admit i love the eating more. today we are making a millionty green onion pancakes. i wanted to bring some dough home, but she's insisting on parcooking them first. she says it'll be easier. i am dubious, but it's morm's day so we'll do what she wants. actually who am i kidding, even when it's not morm's day we'll do what she wants.

oh and for the record this is not us showing you mouths full of chewed food. this is us shoving hot food in our mouths and going, HOT HOT HOT. she says when this happens you have to blow outwards and wave your hands. you know, instead of spitting it out, or god forbid, waiting until the food cools before you put it in your mouth to begin with.

ps. she was skeptical about me putting this picture on the internet. she was hating on me for taking pictures in the morning before she had a chance to shower and makeup. but once i told her i thought it was funny, and that you guys might think it funny too, she changed her tune. and in that sense, i am totally my mother's daughter.

pps. hey dad, hope you get over this little cold soon. if not we're going to have to get you a bubble to live in. and while that might make for a funny father's day photo, i'd be okay with something else.
