When norm was here we ended up making a boatload of potstickers. The only problem was that we ran out potsticker skins and had extra filling. I had more skins in the freezer (yes, oddly this is a staple in my house), but there wasn't time to defrost them. So this evening I decided to make the rest for dinner. Only I didn't want to sit in the kitchen, so I cleaned up the living room and set up shop there while Randall nerded it with video games. He just started playing drake3 and I approve of that message even though it's like watching a really long movie with a bunch of tedious battles.
In other news, Julie has officially gone sugar-free. Sad! At least she got her parting tissue!
Ps. Happy birthday jamers, we'll do dinner sometime soon!

Erin tipped me off to the penultimate app (not the second to last app, but the ultimate pen app) and well, I am glad. That paired with the wacom bamboo stylus is a nerdy evening well spent. Now I can just waste time drawing birds and nerds. I heart this app. The end.

This afternoon Randall and I popped by an open house next door to one I loved a year ago. The price is right and the house is cute, but for some reason I said not to pull the trigger. The street's a little busy, and my heart isn't swooning. My brain says we should jump, but we won't and we'll probably regret this.
In related news we're finally getting the back room all sorted dining style. It's got a ways to go, but dinner party once it's done.

Today was one of the most productive days ever known to man (no seriously I did like 8 errands and 5 big chores including finding time to make a batch of pickles). It was also our third anniversary. Randall and I got married three years ago and have been together over 11. I can't believe I'm old enough to have been with someone that long. He's the absolute best and every year is a new ridiculous adventure. Tonight we had dinner at sons and daughters (btw I think it is my new favorite restaurant) and we still managed to strike up new and unheard conversation. I love that. In fact I super love that and I hope it happens for another 11 x 3 years and then some.
Happy anniversary dopey!

What started off as a rainy do nothing (except portal) day turned into a gorgeous hang out outside day. Randall and I checked out a pretty sweet open house (we should probably bid but for some reason probably aren't going to) and then came home and did some yard work. The front of the house has been looking bad news and I've been afraid of the neighbors finally saying something. So we put on our work gloves and pulled some weeds. Afterwards we grilled some lamb chops and paired them with mint yogurt sauce, grilled asparagus, and chicken infused couscous. It was the perfect spring meal for a perfect spring day.
Happy easter!
Ps. We had lamb in honor of Easter mostly so Randall could say we were eating the lamb of god.

i took today off to catch up on some sleep and well who am i kidding, i was planning ahead and knew there would be a beverage pairing with last night's meal. the meal, btw, was fabulous. corey lee is running a tight ship over at benu, and if you get the chance and want to part with your hard earned cash, you should go. there were so many good bites and pairings (hello foie gras xiao long bao paired with sour ale, where have you been all my life?!). And despite it being a bajillion course meal, i left feeling full but not bloated. it was slightly perfect, maybe more than perfect. the service was great and never heavyhanded, the sommelier was fun not stuffy, and it might just be new experience goggles, but i'm going to go out on a crazy limb here and say i liked it more than the French Laundry. there. i said it. they're very different experiences, so maybe it's not fair to compare. but they were both helmed by corey lee so it's kind of hard not to.
so what did we have tonight to follow up such a feast? why a slice of pizza pie of course!

Today is randall's birthday and to celebrate I made surprise reservations at benu. The meal was delicious (we did the tasting and beverage pairing - thanks to Arthur for the drink recommendation), and while it was completely opposite of the French laundry meal (cooked by the same man and sort of hard to compare), i think I liked benu more. Every detail was just perfect. I particularly loved the magic birthday box. Instead of making a big birthday ordeal, they presented Randall with a music box. When you turned the crank it tinkered happy birthday. It was also lit with a bunch of blue LEDs and then the lid came off and a surprise cake was presented! Super low key and perfect. Just like the meal!
Happy birthday Randall!!!

While the rest of the city went crazy for Britney, Randall and I escaped to the banality of the suburbs. The list of things we needed had gotten long and it was time for the bi-monthly target run. That's all, nothing else. The good ol' life domestic.

With the exception of the big Bella clean out (sorry if you missed it, but I think there's still plenty to choose from), work was a little uneventful. If I was smart I'd have taken the day off. But then I would've missed happy hour where the game dudes let off some much needed steam. I feel them on this, the train is going full speed ahead and our fingers are crossed that it doesn't crash.
After happy hour I jetted over to fort mason where I met up with Randall. Erin (who apparently needs a watch) joined us a little bit later. The weather held out and the food was tasty. My favorite was this pork belly sandwich from antano. I seriously couldn't stop talking about it, and I'm kind of wishing I got one to eat later too.
When we were winding down (aka picking the last truck) we ran into Andy r. He lives nearby and had come out for some tastyness. He had a rice thing that looked delicious, and we were trying to convince him to get the fritters for dessert. In hindsight, i wish we had gotten the fritters too. Oh well, I guess there's always next time.
