You got (soft) served

After work I grabbed that sushi dog (phew the blue angels didn't freak her out into Godzilla destruction mode) and headed to 826. We walked thru the neighborhood and hung out for the reading of the paper. One kid wrote about the upcoming London Olympics and literally gave his dad a "this part's for you" shoutout when he got to the part about heneiken sponsorship.

On my way home I walked past bi-rite and the soft serve short line flavor was salted caramel. It's not always there and I kinda have a special place in my heart for soft serve so I ordered one. Magically after an entire morning of rain and drizzle it was actually great weather. Perfect soft serve weather.

Law and disorder

And yet another chapter comes to an end. This is lawrence (aka law) and he's a new daddy who has been taking some time to hang with the little law. He was originally planning on coming back to work, but it looks like it's time for something new. That's right folks, today was law's last day. It's pretty sad news, and the end of an era. Good luck law! We'll miss you.

Ps. The other images come from anneh. It's an inside joke, but har har! I had to share!

There and back again

This morning dk and I met up in the hotel lobby and headed to the airport. We were both on the same flight home and arrived just in time for the 5 year sugar party. My oh my how we've grown.

In other news, it's great to be home.

This weather is just rosy

Tonight was the latest bayfarer reading party, and it ended up being a short one. When I got out of there, I started to head home, but it was so nice out, I couldn't do it. Somehow I ended up at bi-rite where I picked up a bottle of chilled twist-cap rosé. Next I finally (no thanks to AT&T) got a hold of anneh and had her meet me at Dolores park with glasses. We enjoyed the tunes provided by the park dj (yes there was a dj in the park) and the weather while we drank our rosé. It was sort of perfect.

After a little while, Randall joined us. We hung out for a little bit longer, cursed our decision for not hanging out in front of delfina while we waited for a table, and then went to fins food. We were going to go to sushi, but the wait was too long so we ended up at ti couz (which is supposedly closing soons) instead. We sat outside, and while there, a bird nearly pooped all over me. It got my menu instead, although I did get some back splat. Disgusting.

At the end of the meal, I started to feel weird. We hurried home (although we did stop to buy Bacon crack -- bacon toffee) where I immediately turned bright red and started itching. Clearly am allergic to something. It happened (only not as bad) the last time we went there too.

Consecration

It's been that kind of a day.

In other news Randall says I have a fake smile. Um, how does he not know this is a fake smile?

Ps. If you have not had Russian river's consecration beer yet, please do yourself a favor. It's great beer even for nonbeer drinkers, and maybe especially great beer for wine drinkers.

Learning to train my dragon

As previously mentioned, I am about 11 years old. Today the latest Netflix disc (How to train your dragon) showed up and Randall and I dutifully watched it. I was clearly enthralled, but Randall obviously was reading the training manual online.

Ps. Where can I get one of these stitch dragons? I want to fly one! They're like lizard cat aliens!

A whole different experience

I started this morning at a fancy (but not too fancy) hotel in new
york city and ended it at a cheap (but decent) motel in blue earth,
minnesota. It's been a really surreal day with lots of nice words and
nicer stories. I thought I was mentally ready, but it turns out I
wasn't. I'd never seen a dead body before and a viewing seemed like
such a weird concept. (It was.) I was overwhelmingly sad and creeped
out at the same time. I kept waiting for someone to say ha ha joke!
But that never happened.

Ps. Samshrew and bao wouldn't let me do the photo I wanted. This is
because they are smart. Instead, you get midwest late night dinner
special.

hello? are you there? no? yes? okay. tomorrow? tuesday? wait, do what now?

the past week has felt like an odd game of telephone. every time i think i know what's going on, someone says that's not what was said. actually they don't say that's not what was said, they just say something slightly different. it's like we're all on the same page, but reading from a different paragraph. i think we've just about got it sorted out, but well you never can tell.

all i know is that's making me frustrated. i hate it when things are difficult when they clearly don't need to be.

in other news, the shopstyle team apparently had a huge success last night. they're a rocking team, so i'm glad to hear the whole event went down as planned! randall even represented by stealing my stolen hat. go team shopstyle!

ps. this is what randall thinks i'm like when i get home talking about work he doesn't care about. also, he had my dinner held hostage on the grill and homegirl here was hungry. and talking about herself as a homegirl in third person. obviously.
